Re: Why does Maven install try to download resources it is supposed to be installing?

2017-08-13 Thread Dan Haywood
Hi Kevin,

OK, I see... when you're doing a "mvn clean install", having downloaded the
isis-1.15.0-source-release.zip and building in core directory.

Yeah, so short answer is I'm not sure either, is kinda odd. Perhaps it's
because the parent pom.xml (in core) references all those modules in its
 section.

If you start with an empty ~/.m2/repository/org/apache/isis, and then
interrupt the build after all the downloads, then you'll see that all that
is created in ~/.m2/repository/org/apache/isis subdirectories are timestamp
files, eg
core/isis-core-applib/1.15.0/isis-core-applib-1.15.0.jar.lastUpdated which
just records which remote repositories were checked for the artifact, and
when. But no artifact is actually downloaded, so they all get built
locally.

It would be better though if the verify instructions said to build using
the mvn clean install -o, ie with the offline flag. I'll update them
accordingly.

Thx
Dan

Hi Dan,

I'm in the isis-1.15.0 directory, doing a "mvn clean install"

Sure, in the archetype projects, I could expect this behaviour...

Cheers,
Kevin

2017-08-08 Thread Dan Haywood
Hi Kevin,
What command are you running, and in which directory?
In the release-1.15.0-RC1 branch the example applications
(example/application/hello world etc) will have a reference to 1.15.0, but
I doubt you're trying to build them?
Cheers,
Dan.
