Indeed. For trunk I just enabled the check against the 1.7 signature.

I will backport the plugin configuration to the branches and change
the version to 1.6 if possible. Otherwise we do it once 1.7 usages
are removed on the branches.

we just has a mishap over in Oak with respect to code using Java runtime methods it wasn't supposed to use (JDK7), and concluded that we want to check that at build time.

Marcel added build checks using the animal-sniffer plugin (see OAK-4791).

I'd like to do the equivalent for Jackrabbit, checking for JDK6 compliance in all branches for now. See https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JCR-4025 - feedback appreciated.
