we should have a 1:1 mapping between this syntax and the metrics API. 

we should add a parameter which returns exactly that one value. SOLR-11215

To be precise, the syntax example that you gave above follows this structure:
{code}
metrics:/
{code}
I don't think the "prefix" that you mention was meant to really represent a 
prefix match on metric names, rather it's supposed to be an exact metric name?

Any metrics variable could be used as follows
eg:
{code}
{ 'replica': 0, 'metrics:solr.jvm/os.systemLoadAverage': '<0.5'}
{code}

The syntax is as follows
