Well, is it just for reading a .docx?
So, you can use MS-Word viewer.

Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.  If OO doesn't open a docx try 
AbiWord; that has opened docx documents that OO failed to open, although I have 
run into some docx that neither would open.

Apache OpenOffce can open *.docx documents. I did it at least today.
