your difficulty confirmed.

I've just tested this, downloading both dmg and md5 files from
www.openoffice.org/download/ . The MD5 checksum of the dmg file,
derived using Microsoft's File Checksum Integrity Verifier (version
2.05), matches the 6de... value you correctly quote from the md5
file. So either your download of the dmg file has indeed been
corrupted - perhaps cut short? - or else your extraction of its MD5
hash was faulty.

Mr Ellis or Carrington,

This last reply is still not to the point and now we have an email that has a
different signature from the email address.

Apache OpenOffice is both a large codebase and entirely run by volunteers.
Additionally there are large amounts of documentation and support forums.

Please provide details of what is claimed and by whom. Without explicit
information we cannot take these emails seriously and must treat this as “spam".

To my knowledge the link you tried to download from has no connection
with Apache OpenOffice. We suggest that you only download from our
official download link at http://www.openoffice.org/download/. This will
redirect you to our official download mirrors at SourceForge. The
download should start automatically 5 seconds after redirecting to

You should only download from
www.openoffice.org/download.
When you select your download you will be switched to SourceForge servers where
the files are kept, and your download will start automatically in 5-10 seconds.
Do not click on anything else.

You should delete or rename your OpenOffice user profile, which fixes most
 spellcheck problems..

If you are using Windows try this method

Click the Start Button on your Desktop and click Documents. This opens a
Windows Explorer window. Near the top of the window, there are two boxes.
The smaller one on the right is the Search box. The larger one on the left
is the Address Bar. Copy %appdata% and paste it in the Address Bar, then
press Enter. This opens the Roaming folder where you should see an
OpenOffice.org folder. Double-click the OpenOffice.org folder and continue
double-clicking folders that appear in the window until you see the user
 folder. Rename the user folder.

Almost certainly these are false positives. Comodo has frequently been noted

Additionally you can check that the file size is at least fitting
roughly: compare the file size on your PC with the on in the green

Finally, you can check the hash value(s) on the webpage you are at the
