Re: FOSDEM 2020
Hi Matthias It's great to hear that you will organise a team for booth. I will add AOO to the booth list so please add at least one timeslot as I'd really like to ensure that AOO get some time on the booth. You are right and It's true that in the past we had a combined booth at FOSDEM, and in those days we actually had a larger space (with two tables I think!) so there was enough space to have a table for AOO including a demo PC. and also for the ASF in general, where other ASF projects could also come along and spend time. Over the last few of years the booth space has reduced and now they only allocate one table which is why we need to be fair to all ASF projects who would like to get some time on the booth. (BTW during the transition from two tables to one, each time we applied for a FOSDEM booth for the ASF, we put in a request for an additional table but were never successful). Re: FOSDEM 2020
Hi Sharan, Thanks! We will try to organize a team for AOO. Count me in, but I hope for others joining. One (not very important) notice: I don't know about 2016, but my first FOSDEM was in 2017. And in 2017 you had a combined booth with OpenOffice. Re: FOSDEM 2020
Hi All I wanted to let you know that a wiki page for FOSDEM has been setup, so if you'd like to book some time on the ASF booth to promote OpenOffice the link is below. https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/COMDEV/FOSDEM+2020 We are planning for slots of 3-4 hours depending on how many other projects sign up, so please feel free to add the dates and times that you'd like. We will finalise the booth schedule nearer the time once we have all the project requests in. Thanks Sharan On 2019/11/22 18:09:30, Dave Fisher wrote: > Hi - > > > On Nov 22, 2019, at 6:47 AM, Dr. Michael Stehmann > > wrote: > > > > Hello, > > > > following the published list > > > > https://fosdem.org/2020/news/2019-11-19-accepted-stands/ > > > > our stand request was not accepted. > > The Apache Software Foundation does have a stand and OpenOffice is part of > the Foundation. Yea sad to hear. It would have been super fun. Let's checkout what Comdev can provide. Maybe we can develop some ideas what to do with their space? Muharhar ;) Am 22. You don't "create" a mature product by starting it 20 years ago, but being 20 years old could (potentially, YMMV) "make" it mature. >> The software looks and feels familiar and is instantly usable by anyone >> who has used a competitive product. (Or even better, "similar" instead of "competing" to avoid the horrible marketroiderism.) Saying other products are "competitive" implies that AOO is not. Perish the thought. -- Brane P.S.: Yes, I am extremely allergic to marketspeak, but if you really want to use it, might as well get it right. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@openoffice.apache.org
