Thanks for these. I am curious however; from what I can see, most of these 
topics are good and viable candidate for discussions here on the mailing list. 
Why aren't they being done there.

It seems that more and more discussions are being made at these types of 
meetings and that what is "returned" to the list are a set of decisions made, 
externally.

There are no real problems w/ "occasional" sync-meetings, but the problem is 
that they run the very real risk of becoming *THE* de-facto development 
discussion and decision venue, which is 100% anti-Apache. As such, they tend to 
disenfranchise huge swatches of current and potential contributors by 
"favoring" those who can make these meetings.
