I am a member of the Apache Software Foundation, and on the PMCs of the httpd
and apr projects where amongst other things I maintain the out-of-the-box RPM

I plan to update assimp[1] to version 3.2.0 in rawhide and f24 in the
next day or two. The update involves a soname bump, so dependent
packages will need to be rebuilt:

You probably need someone to complete the review and then request the
branches from the PackageDB.
Given the time frame, perhaps you could file an unretirement request
through the PackageDB interface without going through the review process,
but I'm not sure about that.
