Yes, the soname bump in F15 was done by mistake, and obviously the testing caught that, so it was reverted right away. The bump in F16 was the result of the same mistake, but there I thought it might as well stay. Except I should have mailed to devel list about it, I'm sorry I didn't. Hi, perhaps it is possible to add the overall count of packages available in fedora. So we could calculate the number of updates relative to the total number of packages. To me this seems to be a very helpful indicator to see if there really were more updates or just more packages which of course would need more updates. Best Practice to revert a version on F-15
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hallo, I'm planing to revert the version of blender in the F-15 repository from 2.56 to 2.49. The reseaon is, that there are several packages depending on blender which are not compatible to blender-2.56 or beyond. I plan to create a feature to F-16 to coordinate the migration of the packages, which are depending on blender to the blender-2.56 branch. Except that you will need to bump the Epoch to downgrade from 2.56 to 2.49. Check all dependencies carefully. They might need a rebuild or even a downgrade, too. Alternatively, albeit a little bit of a hack, it would be possible to package two releases of blender in a single src.rpm and keep the 2.49 version in a subpackage with a different name. This would need dependencies to be adjusted, of course. -- devel mailing list devel@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devel

We should probably at the least see if we can get this into the fedpkg package. It already adds bash completion foo and would be nice to get zsh completion too. It should simply install into /usr/share/zsh/site-functions for now and we can remove it if/when it gets added somewhere else.
