So lua-sec contains a modified version of lua-socket? Have you contacted
upstream about the required patches and modifications? If you provide a
proper patch, which maintains compatibility with the current version of
lua-socket, i.e. it only extends it, I'd be willing to take it into the
lua-socket package until upstream accepts the patch.

Be careful what you wish for, I ended up becoming the maintainer of
lua-xmlrpc when filing patches ;-)

rebuilt against 1.46.1 yet, so what I could do is keep the patchlevel

I personnally have a bad experience about reverting ABI version name
against upstream, specially in the case of DirectFB
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=673842

The best is to continue to try to educate upstream about this problem,
specially if this update 'sounds like' a bugfix update. I would be
more in favour to have a dedicated dist-tag used for the rebuilt of
dependent packages (done preliminary in rawhide) and not to create a
SONAME deviating from upstream.

I don't have a problem rebuilding twice. I'd like to get a heads up that
a soname bump is comming, rather than finding out after the fact. This makes
scheduling the work a bit easier. Boost is used by enough stuff, that I think
a heads up to devel is warranted.

In this particular case I was concerned, because of the previous reversion in
F15 and didn't want to make things worse by starting rebuilds before I
knew this change was going to stick.

Yes, the soname bump in F15 was done by mistake, and obviously the
testing caught that, so it was reverted right away.

The bump in F16 was the result of the same mistake, but there I thought
it might as well stay. Except I should have mailed to devel list about
it, I'm sorry I didn't.

So 1.46.1 is there for real, later to be replaced most probably by
1.48.0, or whatever the upstream manages to finish in the mean time.

How to debug a broken suspend/hibernate ?

Under Fedora 14, my computer, an Asus U31J, cannot suspend/hibernate.
It attempts both, but hangs and has to be hard powered off. (I have

How do you debug something like this? I guess I'd need to have some
tracing through the shutdown sequence to understand where it stops.

In case you used the pm-utils, consult the logs:

/var/log/pm-suspend.log

There is also script that can present you interesting information:
# pm-utils-bugreport-info.sh

something useful can be also found in syslog:

Test suspend from runlevels 3, 5 by:
# pm-suspend
and also directly through sys interface:
# echo mem /sys/power/state

If the last one fails from runlevel 3 it is probably the kernel
and it will require more advanced debugging.

Hi,

perhaps it is possible to add the overall count of packages available in
fedora. So we could calculate the number of updates relative to the
total number of packages. To me this seems to be a very helpful
indicator to see if there really were more updates or just more packages
which of course would need more updates.

Should be easy to implement, or?

[Test-Announce] 2011-04-08 @ 17:00 UTC - F-15-Beta blocker bug review #5

2011-04-06 Thread James Laska
# F15-Beta Blocker Review meeting #5
# Date: 2011-04-08
# Time: 17:00 UTC [1] (13:00 EDT, 10:00 PDT, 10:00 MST)
# Location: #fedora-bugzappers on irc.freenode.net

Mark your calendars, the fifth (and hopefully last) Beta blocker review
meeting will be this Friday at 17:00 UTC in #fedora-bugzappers. We'll
review proposed and accepted F-15-Beta blocker bugs.

NOTE: The F-15-Beta RC1 compose, scheduled [2] for Thursday April 7th
(TOMORROW), *cannot* proceed until all approved blockers are resolved.

An updated list of blocker bugs is available at
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Current_Release_Blockers. The list of
bugs is also attached to this mail. We'll be reviewing the bugs to
determine ...
 1. whether they meet the Beta release criteria [2] and should stay
on the list
 2. are getting the attention they need

For guidance on Blocker and Nice-to-have (NTH) bugs, checkout ...
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:SOP_blocker_bug_process and
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:SOP_nth_bug_process

== Suggested Meeting Preparation ==

Maintainers ...
  * If your bug is *not* MODIFIED ... this issue is at risk of
slipping the F15 Beta release date
  * If your bug is in MODIFIED ... please make sure a build with the
fix exists, and is available as a bodhi update.

Testers ...
  * If you REPORT a bug ... please be responsive to any requests for
additional information.
  * If a bug is in ON_QA ... please take a moment to apply the
update, and post karma feedback

Best Practice to revert a version on F-15

Hallo,

I'm planing to revert the version of blender in the F-15 repository
from 2.56 to 2.49.

The reseaon is, that there are several packages depending on blender
which are not
compatible to blender-2.56 or beyond.

I plan to create a feature to F-16 to coordinate the migration of the
packages,
which are depending on blender to the blender-2.56 branch.

So I want to ask, what I have to consinder when I revert to 2.49 on
the F-15 branch.

Best Regards:

Now we can get down to the desktop validation testing:

 https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Fedora_15_Beta_TC1_Desktop

Is USB 3.0 testing part of this?

Dell Vostro 230ST, two dual port pci - usb3.0 cards, two usb 3.0 hubs,
and some Western Digital usb3.0 disks. Without the hubs (disks attached
directly to the ports on the pci cards, everything works nicely. I have
lsusb/lspci output but am unsure where to post that.

There are nearly the same things to do as with a version upgrade. Except
that you will need to bump the Epoch to downgrade from 2.56 to 2.49. Check
all dependencies carefully. They might need a rebuild or even a downgrade,
too.

Alternatively, albeit a little bit of a hack, it would be possible to package
two releases of blender in a single src.rpm and keep the 2.49 version in
a subpackage with a different name. This would need dependencies to be
adjusted, of course.

Any luck getting this upstream? We should probably at the least see
if we can get this into the fedpkg package. It already adds bash
completion foo and would be nice to get zsh completion too. It
should simply install into /usr/share/zsh/site-functions for now and
we can remove it if/when it gets added somewhere else.

I have a bug opened[1].

[perl-EV] Re-add the header files to the main package.

2011-04-06 Thread Mathieu Bridon
commit e3280d548e548a5c83d55a0cb4d2492a0bbdc091
Author: Mathieu Bridon boche...@fedoraproject.org
Date: Thu Apr 7 11:03:05 2011 +0800

Re-add the header files to the main package.

Reviewer suggested those two .h files should be moved to a -devel
subpackage.

However, the Fedora packaging guidelines indicate the contrary:
