Hi , libdrm, intel drv, kernel normally have circle dependencies , i.e
to compile intel drv you need update libdrm and to have libdrm you will
need update kernel etc. See here http://intellinuxgraphics.org
(http://intellinuxgraphics.org/2012Q4.html ) to have one idea of we
 expect to have .

Now, Fedora 14 have a kernel 2.6.35 , you should try see if you can work
 with a more recent kernel.
you wrote : these driver is using kernel file (like header etc) if i
use Fedora 17, they are not working .
It is hard to tell something, without see any line of the error
description ... , so what is the error ? Are you sure that doesn't
compile with more recent kernel ?

Out of curiosity, could you post a link to the oldest one?

If you are packager you can help with this state by doing review:

If you are a package submitter, you can help with this state, too,
by trying to review your own package with the help of the Review
Guidelines. Complete the most basic reviewing steps, such as running
rpmlint on the src.rpm and the build rpms, and handle the first errors
yourself:

It's also highly recommended (and appreciated by the reviewers) that

a brief comment and mark the ticket as NotReady (in the Whiteboard field).

Not really. It has been the submitter's only package review request.
Possibly without a request to become a co-maintainer of other packages
in the Fedora package collection. And the guidelines expect the sponsor
to be the reviewer of the first package to be included.

Sponsorship for the packager group is possible without making it
dependent on pending review requests (which sometimes are not completed
because of severe stability issues, licensing issues, or long-term
unbundling activity without an exception from the FPC, e.g.).

Important question

2012-12-18 Thread Gene Czarcinski
OK, so maybe I an nuts but it seems to me that there is this 800 pound
gorilla wondering around the Fedora 18 tent and its name is firewalld!
Or it with respect to virtual guests and libvirt (since libvirt is a
critical part of networking support).

Maybe I am missing some critical information as to how to configure
firewalld so that guests can perform functions which the same guest can
do on a Fedora 17 host. She only firewalld configuration I have been
able to come up with is to configure it disabled.

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=888288

I have test this problem on different hardware and with/without mu usual
updates of libvirt-1.0.1 and NetworkManager-git20121130. Please tell me
that there is just this little thing I need to do and everything will work.

With Fedora 18 to be released real soon now, this is a very big
problem! I remember with SELinux first appeared ... most people
disabled it. Is this what is going to happen with firewalld?

A big part of my problem is that I see little notice that there is a
problem.

I do not like cross posting but this needs to be on a couple of lists so
I will be sending each a copy of this message.

F18 Samba4 feature - update from Samba3

2012-12-18 Thread Michał Piotrowski
Hi,

Samba3 configuration on my development server is fairly simple. Do I
need to change something in the /etc/samba/smb.conf after update to
Samba4?

I don't see anything about migration here

so I assume that it will be trouble-free. Am I too big optimist?

This package review has been submitted more then six years ago. With
more then 150 comments in BZ. And now finally get accepted into Fedora.
I would like to thanks Lee for his incredible patience.

I guess it was submitted back in the days when people remembered what
'fax machines' were ;)

As a file server it should keep working as is, however take a look at

was already updated, but I've put a specific link in for the s-s-k section.

 And need review system-config-keyboard ?

2 - as wrote and suggest in other email, that I agree is
 overwrite /etc/sysconfig/keyboard with following content:

I remembered that Fedora also could make system-config-synaptics like
others system-configs to configure enable and disable Tap of synaptics
 and create/manage /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/01-touchpad.conf

no. please don't do this, we don't need it. let this be handled in the

think spending efforts to implement system-config-synaptics is useful.

4 -The wiki page Upgrading_Fedora_using_yum have instructions that we
should know and do, in every type of upgrade .

we should do this in any case .

 5 -
 https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Upgrading_Fedora_using_yum#6._Preparing_for_reboot
this link in others method of upgrades should be mention in case of boot
 fails.
Also misses (I think), how prepare a bootable rescue mode in case of
grub install fails. I wrote sometime ago :
 http://www.serjux.com/freedos_boot/Create-a-bootable-rescue.txt

6 - Other thing, that could be not ready for F18 release date, but is
important, in my point of view, is Fedup be able to upgrade F16 to F18 .

7 - Fedup correctly writes: package foo needs 100M etc
But at the end don't explain that transaction fails because need more
free space on disk before upgrade

Self Introduction

2012-12-18 Thread Sandro Mani

Hello all,

Having just been kindly sponsored by Kalev, I guess it's time for the
obligatory Self Introduction :)

First some background stuff: I'm from Switzerland, and have just
received my degree in Computational Sciences and Engineering from ETH.
I've been a Fedora user since F11, and have now been running rawhide for
the past year. I've been active in the open source community here and
there mainly in the past two or three years, some more recent
contributions include adapting the gtkspell code for gtk3 (and becoming
an upstream maintainer for the project), as well as a number of patches
to some KDE projects. I'm also the author of gImageReader, a simple OCR
scanning application, the gtk3 port of which I'm hoping to release (and
bring into Fedora) soon. Otherwise I'm mainly active developing C++
simulations with some occasional OpenGL graphics and cross-platform Qt
GUIs (thanks to the awesome work of the mingw team!), and also like
playing around with AVR microcontrollers. Other activities I enjoy doing
include sailing skiffs, playing around with electronically stabilized
hydrofoils [1], swimming and mountain-biking.

As far as Fedora is concerned, I've just become co-maintainer for
gtkspell3. Some things I'd like to work on in the future are bringing
gImageReader into Fedora, once I manage a release, and more generally
bringing a number of scientific software (some of which I've already
packaged for personal usage) into the distribution, some examples
include Xfoil, Xrotor and AVL [2], and I'd also like to give a shot at
OpenFOAM, along with some mesh generators (though most will need to go
into rpmfusion due to the OCE dependency). I'd also be happy to help out
with KDE packages.

I guess that's all for now!

Cheers,
Sandro

[Test-Announce] 2012-12-19 @ 17:00 UTC - F18 Final Blocker Bug Review #6

2012-12-18 Thread Tim Flink
# F18 Final Blocker Review meeting #6
# Date: 2012-12-19
# Time: 17:00 UTC (12:00 EST, 09:00 PST)
# Location: #fedora-bugzappers on irc.freenode.net

The list of blocker and nth bugs is still really long and we're running
out of time. We may keep the meeting to 3 hours but will probably keep
going if people still have energy. If you have time to help, feel free
to help for part if you can't attend the whole thing.

We'll be running through the final blockers and nice-to-haves. The
current list of blocker bugs is available at:
http://qa.fedoraproject.org/blockerbugs/current

Since there are quite a few proposed blockers yet, we'll be focusing on
the ones that I've already identified as needing discussion:
hhttp://tflink.fedorapeople.org/blockerbugs/sorted/blocker_bugs.html#needs-discussion
http://tflink.fedorapeople.org/blockerbugs/sorted/nth_bugs.html#needs-discussion

We'll be reviewing the bugs to determine ...

1. Whether they meet the final release criteria [1] and should stay
 on the list
2. Whether they are getting the attention they need
