Re: EPEL Updating Puppet to 2.7.x

So, could you remind us again of the various interactions of the
versions? (or is there a doc on it?)

Ie, of 2.6, 2.7, 3.0, which versions clients can talk to which versions
 servers?

So 2.6 clients should be able to talk with 2.7.x masters. The later
2.7.x stuff is even better with more helpful warnings and deprecation
notices.

I'm not sure about 2.7 - 3.0, but for the sake of this discussion perhaps
what's important is that 2.6 clients and/or servers don't get along with 2.7
clients and/or servers. So any existing client or server using EPEL puppet
will need to be updated at the same time.

Also, is there any changes people would need to make to their puppet
 manifests between 2.6 and 2.7?

The main things are:

Service resource types by default have has_status = true in 2.7.x
(which was mostly of the time manually set in 2.6.x by people
authoring code anyway).

I think there was one other item, but I can't for the life of me
remember it right now. There also is some ill-defined behavior in
2.7.x on using Class/Variable names with a hyphen in them. I'd advice
against it.

I think there are some small things here, but should mostly just work -- I'm
able to share some (relatively simple) configs between 2.6 and 2.7
servers/clients with no issues. If someone could provide more detail than
 that, I'd appreciate it :)

Sam, any idea where this is at?

In general I'm in favor of getting it updated...

+1, just hate the surprise breakage for those that don't see this coming...

Re: bcache, udev rules and calling blkid

2013-10-01 Thread Nicolas Mailhot

Le Lun 30 septembre 2013 09:00, Rolf Fokkens a écrit :
 Hi,

On bugzilla there was a brief discussion on how to reduce the number of
blkid calls during udev rules processing:

 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1004693

The general idea was to rely on earlier calls to blkid instead of having
later rules calling blkid themselves. Specifically for bcache this meant
relying on 13-dm-disk.rules and 60-persistent-storage-rules, which all
 worked fine until...

...until I tested stacking bcache on top of raid (md).

lablgtk 2.18.0 in Rawhide (was: OCaml 4.01.0 coming to Fedora Rawhide this weekend)

2013-10-01 Thread Richard W.M. Jones

LablGTK are the OCaml bindings for Gtk.

I am just about to push the new version of 'ocaml-lablgtk' to Rawhide,
and this will cause dependency breakage for any package that depends
on that. I will rebuild dependencies as needed.

dnf-0.4.2 released

2013-10-01 Thread Ales Kozumplik

Hello,

dnf-0.4.2 was released in Fedora 20[1] and Fedora Rawhide today.

The highlights of the release are parallel downloads, detecting the
fastest mirrors for downloads, support for repo.cost config option
(which all has been in Yum for a long time and we are adding it to DNF
again now) and losing the urlgrabber dependency. See the full release
notes on the documentation page.[2]

We also started a blog about DNF:

  dnf.baseurl.org

At the current time it pretty much contains only the release
announcements same as the ones I sent to the lists. Lot more to come.

Steven is the owner of a large number of perl module packages in Fedora

none at all that I can see since May 2012 (no activity on perl-devel
since then, and any commits should show up there).

Has anyone tried to email him? I only remember I've noticed cone in
Fedora is ancient, and the bugzilla ticket about the new upstream releases
is unanswered since 2011. So, effectively, cone is unmaintained.

Hi All,

I'm very happy to announce the second release (r2) of my Fedora 19 ARM

release is based on the official Fedora 19 Final for ARM images,
with u-boot and kernel(s) from the linux-sunxi project:
http://linux-sunxi.org/

Thanks for the new image! I've tried to run it on my Cubieboard (1024MB)
but it fails to boot. This seems to be the same on the 1st image, sorry
I did not check that earlier :-/

Which reminds me that I meant to report my results.

The r1 remix worked, and continues to work, fine on my gooseberry. The
r2 remix does not boot.

Any chance you could make things like the r2 kernel RPM available in a
YUM repo or stand-alone? I looked quickly, but did not find it. Perhaps
I did not look hard enough.

New maintainer for lirc/Jarod Wilson's packages

2013-10-01 Thread Till Maas
Hi,

Jarod Wilson, the current lirc maintainer, announced that he wants
someone else to maintain lirc due to lack of time/interest[0]. Probably
his other four packages need a new maintainer as, well[1]:

https://admin.fedoraproject.org/pkgdb/users/packages/jwilson?acls=owner

cx18-firmware -- Firmware for Conexant cx23418-based video capture
devices
libcrystalhd -- Broadcom Crystal HD device interface library
lirc -- The Linux Infrared Remote Control package
rinputd -- A server for receiving input events over the network
wacomexpresskeys -- Wacom ExpressKeys and Touch Strips configuration
utility

Please respond here, if you want to take a package over including your
FAS name and I will transfer the package if Jarod agrees.

[Test-Announce] 2013-10-02 @ 16:00 UTC - F20 Beta Blocker Bug Review #2

2013-10-01 Thread Tim Flink

# Date: 2013-10-02
# Time: 16:00 UTC (12:00 EDT, 09:00 PDT)
# Location: #fedora-blocker-review on irc.freenode.net

It's almost Wednesday and we all know what that means - time to review
some blocker bugs! We've got a decent number of bugs up for review
tomorrow, so join us and help move this process along!

We'll be running through the final blockers and freeze exception bugs.
The current list is available at:
http://qa.fedoraproject.org/blockerbugs/current

We'll be reviewing the bugs to determine ...

1. Whether they meet the beta release criteria [1] and should stay
  on the list
2. Whether they are getting the attention they need

[1] http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_20_Beta_Release_Criteria

For guidance on Blocker and FreezeException bugs, please refer to

[Bug 1014054] New: perl-Net-Patricia license tag is broken.

2013-10-01 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1014054

Bug ID: 1014054
Summary: perl-Net-Patricia license tag is broken.
   Product: Fedora
   Version: 19
 Component: perl-Net-Patricia
  Assignee: or...@cora.nwra.com
  Reporter: kame55-itasenpara...@y2.dion.ne.jp
QA Contact: extras...@fedoraproject.org
CC: or...@cora.nwra.com,
perl-devel@lists.fedoraproject.org,
phil...@redfish-solutions.com

Hello.

SRC rpm is : perl-Net-Patricia-1.20-2.fc19.src.rpm

perl-Net-Patricia license tag is broken. (not vaild license tag)

See:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:LicensingGuidelines?rd=Packaging/LicensingGuidelines#.22Distributable.22

I see copyright notice text.

copyring notice file list:

A) Net-Patricia-1.20/COPYING
B) Net-Patricia-1.20/libpatricia/copyright

I think that A is GPLv2, B is 4-cause BSD License.
4-cause BSD License is GPL incompatible. (Adversing cause)

I think that this is license problem and non-free.

Note: GPL and 4-cause BSD License is free, fedora acceptable licenses.

Suggests:

1. resolve license problem (if this is license problematic) and fixing license
tag.

2. Remove fedora repos.

3. contact upstream author.

Thanks.
