Details about builds:

 clamav-0.99-3.el5 (FEDORA-EPEL-2015-b68b5dff17)
 Anti-virus software

Update Information:

ClamAV 0.99 contains major new features and changes. YARA rules, Perl Compatible
Regular Expressions, revamped on-access scanning for Linux, and other new
features join the many great features of ClamAV: - Processing of YARA rules
(some limitations - see signatures.pdf). - Support in ClamAV logical signatures
for many of the features added for YARA, such as Perl Compatible Regular
Expressions, alternate strings, and YARA string attributes. See signatures.pdf
for full details. - New and improved on-access scanning for Linux. See the
recent blog post and clamdoc.pdf for details on the new on-access capabilities.
- A new ClamAV API callback function that is invoked when a virus is found. This
is intended primarily for applications running in all-match mode. Any
applications using all-match mode must use the new callback function to record
and report detected viruses. - Configurable default password list to attempt
zip file decryption. - TIFF file support. - A new signature target type for
designating signatures to run against files with unknown file types. - Improved
fidelity of the "data loss prevention" heuristic algorithm. Code supplied by
Bill Parker. - Support for LZMA decompression within Adobe Flash files. -
Support for MSO attachments within Microsoft Office 2003 XML files. - A new
sigtool option(--ascii-normalize) allowing signature authors to more easily
generate normalized versions of ascii files. Please note: If you are using
clamd on-access scanning or have applications using all-match mode, you will
want to review the changes and make any necessary adjustments before using
ClamAV 0.99.

This is the third time, because previously we rather moved the change to
 the
next Fedora to bring better user experience. Every time there was something
enhanced, since we learned a lot about user use-cases, so this is
 definitely
not the same change as before, only the root idea is the same. The Change

is up-to-date and contains the current information.

Also with many projects involved - Gnome Shell, NetworkManager, Unbound,
dnssec-trigger, SELinux (always a pleasure:), Docker... it is not the
 easiest
thing to agree on changes and coordinate everything on time.

It sounds like you stopped at the first section of the email and ended there.
I didn't said that, and if you read the whole email you should understand that.
Otherwise my email would end right after this section you commented to.

You hijack the root zone space.

I didn't said that.

Lennart, you don't have to comment on something you think I said, while
the rest of my email described the possible solution to the problem.
This means that I think it is important to take it into account and
provide some possible solution.

This is work in progress. We are working on it and if it is not completed
it will not be included. We don't put everything in Fedora and then

I guess next time I'll not send thing to devel list that I don't want

Lennart Poettering wrote:

I for one want my laptop to be suspicious of random DNS servers it
encounters in public places, and bypass them if they're found to be
lying.

I also want to be able to make an exception in case I'm visiting a
misconfigured network and really need to access some internal server.

It seems to me that the system needs to ask the user whether they are
in a public hotspot that they're using only as a way to access the
Internet, or whether they're visiting a friend and want to access
internal servers. I don't see a way to tell the difference reliably
without any user interaction.

The port numbers are obviously chosen to get through overzealous
firewalls. All too often everything except TCP port 443 is blocked or
tampered with. It is certainly far from ideal, which is why it's right
to do it only as a last resort when all other ways are blocked.

When an email is titled "F24 System Wide Change" I think a lot of
people (like me) were under the impression you wanted this to be a new

I read your whole post. Those possibilities seem pretty limited, from
the point of view of serious regressions in Fedora usability. It isn't
that I "like" Fedora being less than technically correct (especially
around security-related features), but I don't think we can discount
the prevalence of "broken" schemes in the real world.

I don't really care about that. I care that we pick the solutions that
are best for our users.

That split DNS setup has been working well for me since Fedora 21,
which I enabled using:

  dnf install crudini
crudini --set /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/99-split-dns.conf main dns dnsmasq

Details of that setting are in man NetworkManager.conf
Not sending general DNS queries over the VPN
improves speed and avoids stalls when the VPN drops.

Change owner(s):
* Tomas Tomecek

sen enables you to manage your containers and images interactively
directly from command line. Interface is similar to htop, alot or tig.

== Detailed Description ==
* it can interactively manage your containers and images:
-- manage? start, stop, restart, kill, delete,...
* you are able to inspect containers and images
* sen can fetch logs of containers and even stream logs real-time
* all buffers support searching and filtering
* sen receives real-time updates from docker when anything changes
-- e.g. if you create a container in another terminal, sen will pick it up
* sen notifies you whenever something happens (and reports slow queries)
* supports a lot of vim-like keybindings (j, k, gg, /, ...)

== Scope ==

Can you elaborate a bit? Is the intent that, if .box were private, then
.box would be forwarded to DHCP-provided revolvers regardless of whether
those resolvers were functional when asking for DNSSEC signature data?

If so, what cases does this not cover? It fails in the split-horizon
DNSSEC-enabled case where the domain owner hasn't set it up right, but I'd
argue that that's a good thing.

Could make a compat package in EPEL7 be an option?
This way you introduce back the version that was present without conflicting
with RHEL.

Between a rock and a hard place

2015-12-07 Thread Jamie Nguyen
Hi!

libunwind package is now part of RHEL 7.2. It got retired from EPEL7
three days ago (and incidentally the Release went backwards so upgrade
path is broken):

  https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1288313

Unfortunately, that leaves CentOS users in a bit of a pickle, as
libunwind is no longer installable (unless they enable CR repository or
wait X weeks until CentOS 7.2 is released).

NGINX depends on gperftools which depends on libunwind. So NGINX cannot
be installed on CentOS:

  https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1289073

I could rebuild NGINX without gperftools as a temporary solution, but
that would break NGINX for anyone using the google perftools module. If
I don't rebuild, then users can't even install NGINX in the first place.

It seems I'm in between a rock and a hard place. By the way, I don't
actually plan on rebuilding NGINX without gperftools as that would break
it for existing users, and new users can enable CR (but that assumes the
user can figure out the solution themselves).

So, in the general case of packages being retired from EPEL7 because
they have moved to RHEL, how do we avoid missing packages in the future?

Kind regards,

This case should actually not be a problem normally, even with
DNSSEC, since in such a case you wouldn't enable DNSSEC on
kraxel.org.

If you want to do such "split horizon" setups, then don't sign your
zones. I think that's a completely fair requirement to make, and if
you did sign your domains then this should really mean "don't allow
anything below my domain except what I define here or delegated".

The problem is pretty much limited to top-level domains, where those
routers and company networks invented stuff.

This way you introduce back the version that was present without conflicting
with RHEL.

Could probably do something like what happens with packages that RHEL
doesn't ship for all architectures: the RHEL SRPM is cloned into EPEL,
the release field has "0." prepended to it to ensure that the RHEL
version is preferred where available, and the resulting package built
and shipped.

It wouldn't fix the upgrade path issue but should fix the dependencies.

Paul.

Besides that my email started with the fact that it is what it is, whether
you like it or not, I continued with the possibilities we have.

I took this conversation as a mean for improvement. But it turned out
to be PR for systemd-resolved.

It's not the only web site where a person's public activity can be viewed
on the person's public profile page. That way you can look for a person's

However, that's still no reason for the login welcome page to not list the
person's own updates or to explicitly highlight those that wait for action.
To say that "other folks find the overall status more interesting" is a poor
excuse for the page not being customisable

you clearly underestimate the work making a web-application
customizeable in a way making everybody happy!

why can't you not just set a bookmark in the time you write 5 mails?

i could argue the same way why i have to make a dozen of selections in

I agree with Lennart. Whether or not this is expected to work with
DNSSEC is of academic interest given that people will expect it to work
with _their computers_, regardless of what they're running.

This sounds overall pretty neat to me! One detail came to my mind: how
would this interact with VPN DNS servers? In my experience with VPNs,
it's common for them to provide a DNS server that allows internal host

VPN connection so that it knows to use the VPN-provided DNS server for
hosts on that particular domain, rather than the usual external records
for that same domain?

That split DNS setup has been working well for me since Fedora 21,
which I enabled using:

   dnf install crudini
crudini --set /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/99-split-dns.conf main dns dnsmasq

Details of that setting are in man NetworkManager.conf
Not sending general DNS queries over the VPN
improves speed and avoids stalls when the VPN drops

depends on the VPN - if my company VPN drops i have to take a taxi
anyways because it only drops when houston has a problem

given we have some hundret domains the whole point of the VPN is working
from home the same way as if i would be in the office and make *anything
which is possible* through the DHE-4096 connection and avoid as much as
possible network contact bypassing the tunnel

F24 Self Contained Change: sen - terminal user interface for docker engine

2015-12-07 Thread Jan Kurik
= Proposed Self Contained Change: sen - terminal user interface for
docker engine =
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/sen--tui-for-docker

Change owner(s):
* Tomas Tomecek

sen enables you to manage your containers and images interactively
directly from command line. Interface is similar to htop, alot or tig.

== Detailed Description ==
* supports a lot of vim-like keybindings (j, k, gg, /, ...)

== Scope ==

The .so version is exactly the same, so it wouldn't really be a compat
package, but more of an exact duplicate. I'm not sure that's desirable?

Is there some kind of Red Hat policy for retiring EPEL packages that
have been brought to RHEL? If I understand correctly, there would have
been no need to retire libunwind so quickly if the upgrade path had been
kept intact (ie, the retirement could then at least have been delayed
until CentOS 7.2 was released).

I'd like to unretire libunwind for EPEL while waiting for CentOS 7.2,
but that would break RHEL. So I think what I need to do is wait until
the libunwind.rh maintainer has bumped the Release of libunwind.rh, then
request for libunwind.el7 to be unretired. But this process may not even
complete before CentOS 7.2 is released... thus making it rather pointless.

Kind regards,
Jamie

It's not enabled by default. Newcomers to CentOS who want NGINX will
most likely follow some guide on the Internet that tells them to do this:
1. install CentOS
2. install EPEL
3. install NGINX
These newcomers have probably not heard of CR yet, and shouldn't need to
know about CR for NGINX to be installable. It's also not obvious when
installation fails that CR is the answer.

Kind regards,

I think it was just setup this way long ago and it's effort to change
it.

If there's people willing to do the work, I personally have no
objection. Might be good to run past the releng list and fesco tho.

Only if it's a actual different so version. Is it?
If not, why can't you use the version RHEL is shipping?

I don't think thats allowed. The package is in rhel, you cannot ship it
in EPEL just to be a different version.

I think that explicit list of domains would cover pretty much any use-case. We
were thinking about configuring the mixed-mode module with local resolvers only
in case these are not DNSSEC-capable. In such situation everything would work
fine. However if the local resolvers are DNSSEC-capable, then we would not
configure the mixed mode module with them and I such case the validation would
simply fail for any faked TLD. So we would have to configure mixed-mode module
with local resolvers in any case. I guess it would be fine, but I would have to
think about it little bit more.

Petr, as I repeatedly told you, I intentionally do not want to use the "release
monitoring service" because I am locally monitoring upstreams myself.

That said, I consider you permanently molesting me with nag-mails as an utterly
unfriendly and hostile act. As you apparently are not able to respect this,
dispite I repeatedly have told you stop postin, I consider your behavior to be
disrespectful and hostile to an extend, I am not any longer willing to
tolerate.

It depends on the network. If the resolvers from the DHCP are usable
for DNSSEC, then these will be used as forwarders. Nevertheless, Unbound
does the validation locally, so it will query for all the necessary
data to build the chain of trust.

In case the network-provided resolvers are not usable for DNSSEC, then
Unbound is configured to do the recursion.

In case this is blocked on the network, Unbound is configured to tunnel
the DNS queries to Fedora public infrastructure over TCP (80, 443) or
SSL (443), in which case this is similar to the first situation, when
Unbound forwards queries to the resolvers, but does the validation
locally.

This is part of dnssec-trigger documentation, since it is used as the
mean to reconfigure Unbound.
