I saw someone else mention this on IRC today. Apparently there's a fixed version
of `fedpkg` in updates-testing.

Cannot dnf group remove "Cinnamon Desktop"

2017-05-08 Thread Jorge Gallegos
Hi,

I found out the Cinnamon Desktop group is behaving like Hotel
California. I had ``dnf group install "Cinnamon Desktop"`` some time in
the past, and was trying to cleanup now after finishing fiddling with
it. It turns out that Cinnamon Desktop's dependencies somehow bind to
protected dependencies, i.e.

```
[root@ragnia ~]# dnf group remove "Cinnamon Desktop"
Last metadata expiration check: 2:18:50 ago on Mon May  8 07:18:18 2017.
Dependencies resolved.
Error: The operation would result in removing the following protected packages:
dnf, systemd, systemd-udev.
```

Is this intended? A cursory search in bugz turns out no real results,
but wanted to make sure if maybe I am missing something here, if not I
will be opening a new bug.

Cheers

Re: Finalized F27 Candidates

2017-05-08 Thread Kate Carcia
Hi Josh,

Dennis said it best: this is the work the Fedora rel-eng tooling group is
planning to tackle in F27.

I guess this is a fairly good time to sound the "newbie" alarm. I've been
working the Fedora rel-eng group jointly with Amanda for the past 2 months.
It's been great so far and I look forward to engaging with everyone. I will
certainly make sure I do a better job of clarifying this info next time. ;)

Best,
Kate

Qt 5.9 beta upcoming to Rawhide and changes of packaging

2017-05-08 Thread Helio Chissini de Castro
Hello everyone.

So we ( @kdesig ) started to update Qt to 5.9 on Rawhide as will be the
target for next Fedora release.
5.8.x is already been dephased by upstream and 5.9.0 already reach beta 3
stage.

At this moment the update is not ready due some PPC build issues for
qt5-qtdeclarative packages, but we already are working on it, so we ask
a little patience until fix the issue and the rawhide packages depending on
Qt will be out of sync until we manage to fix this issue.

Among the new things, there's a new proposal package for documentation as a
whole. Explaining:

Qt documentation became more and more hard to build among all the several
modules since internally each doc has references for other doc modules,
and this lead me to try a complicated approach on previous 5.8.x build.
Each package during the build of their doc, need to depend of one or more
doc modules.
This made the whole process complex, far from be perfect, and forced us to
bootstrap several modules and compile twice.

So, for this release, we agreed on the kdesig meeting to try the approach
of a single generated doc package, as recommended by Qt upstream.
Is basically a documentation generated from the source code of all modules
at same time.
This lead us to have a single package, with all info properly synced and
with all references, conforming the Fedora guidelines to have a "binary"
blob.

The package is in review here
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1448451

We will be happy to receive comments about this new approach.

Regards, Helio
