"Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me"?
But in this case both parties are one and the same, so "Fool myself

On a sidenote, I think the original Swedish proverb rather is something

This is a good news.

I have implemented on Fedora 25 a samba 4.5.x rebuild with dc enable +
bind dns + dncpd + ntpd

How I can help you when first release of Fedora 27 + Samba 4.7 AD is

Thanks. Testing would be a primary goal, especially dependencies and
upgrades. While there is no automatic upgrade to Samba AD is planned,
we'd like to ensure smooth distribution upgrade.

There is a Swedish proverb. I don't know whether an English version

What exactly is the use case for that, though?

An end user who wants to use That Nifty Program should be able to do
"dnf install niftyprogram" without any "python-" prefix. They neither
know nor care about what language That Nifty Program is written in.

A programmer who wants to use Some Helpful Library in their program had
better know what language they're programming in. If they're writing a
Python 3 program then they'll know to install python3-helpfullib. If
they're stuck maintaining an old Python 2 program, then giving them a
Python 3 library isn't going to help them. When Some Helpful Library
for Python 2 goes away, then the programmer will discover this faster
and cleaner by noticing that there is no python-helpfullib or
python2-helpfullib package, than by unknowingly installing the Python 3
version and then having to figure out why things aren't working.

So what category of users is this supposed to be useful to?

Package:  cyrus-imapd-3.0.1-7.fc26
Old package:  cyrus-imapd-2.5.10-3.fc26
Summary: A high-performance email, contacts and calendar server
RPMs: cyrus-imapd cyrus-imapd-devel cyrus-imapd-doc-extra
cyrus-imapd-utils cyrus-imapd-vzic
Added RPMs:   cyrus-imapd-doc-extra
Size: 17619166 bytes
Size change:  5723886 bytes
Changelog:
  * Thu Apr 20 2017 Jason L Tibbitts III <ti...@math.uh.edu> - 3.0.1-1
  - Initial attempt at importing 3.0. Many new dependencies.
  - Use a stock sample imapd.conf file instead of a Fedora-provided one.

  * Fri Jun 02 2017 Jason L Tibbitts III <ti...@math.uh.edu> - 3.0.1-2
  - Add patch to fix up some endianness issues.
  - Enable both test suites on all architectures.
  - Add arch-specific excludes for a few Cassandane tests.

  * Fri Jun 02 2017 Jason L Tibbitts III <ti...@math.uh.edu> - 3.0.1-3
  - Remove clamav from build requirements.
  - Add --cleanup to Cassandane call to hopefully reduce build disk usage.
  - Disable maxforkrate test on s390x; our builders are too slow to run it.

  * Tue Jun 06 2017 Jitka Plesnikova <jples...@redhat.com> - 3.0.1-4
  - Perl 5.26 rebuild

  * Tue Jun 06 2017 Jason L Tibbitts III <ti...@math.uh.edu> - 3.0.1-5
  - Use proper path to ctl_mboxlist in cron file.
  - Add patch to increase individual test timeout. Sometimes armv7hl can't
complete a single test in 20 seconds.
  - Disable the Metronome tests; upstream says that they just won't reliably on
shared hardware.
  - Don't bother running Cassandane on s390x for now. The machines are simply
too slow.

  * Thu Jun 15 2017 Jason L Tibbitts III <ti...@math.uh.edu> - 3.0.1-6
  - Rename two commands: quota -> cyr_quota, restore -> cyr_restore.
  - Fix Cassandane to handle those renames.
  - Fix location of cyr_fetchnews.
  - Fix Perl 5.26-related module linking issue which caused a test failure.
Fixes https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1461669

  * Tue Jun 20 2017 Jason L Tibbitts III <ti...@math.uh.edu> - 3.0.1-7
  - Add old /usr/lib/cyrus-imapd directory to the utils package and add a
symlink
there to the deliver binary. This should help a bit with migrations.
  - Add upstream patch to fix reconstruct failures on 32-bit architectures.
Re-enable those five Cassandane tests.

I thought it would be tolerably obvious that I didn't mean "literally
the specific conceptual Python 4.0 that at one point was expected to
exist after 3.9" or "any specific Python 4 release that happens".
Clearly what I meant was "any future non-backwards-compatible major
Python release". Maybe *right now* you don't expect there to be one,
but I'm sure there was probably a point during Python 1's lifetime at
which no-one expected there to be a backwards-incompatible Python 2,
and a point during Python 2's lifetime at which no-one expected there
to be a backwards-incompatible Python 3...

This is the whole point of having versions of Fedora, though.

We _are_ a leading edge system, but leading edge of stuff that works,
with the newest stuff in the latest version. This is and has been
Fedora policy for a long time.

Right -- this is one of the reasons to keep to the schedule.

FWIW, here is another example where this caused problems:
https://stackoverflow.com/q/44834208/479426

Respectfully, the above package is not from R, but R-forge. If contributors who
are not part of the R ecosystem do not want to update their packages, then not
much more can be done and the issue is not resolved even if you wait for the
move to a later version of Fedora.

I have not had a single package break by the move to R 3.4 (and I have a few
100s of them installed). Indeed, all are updated.
In any case, with Fedora supposed to be a leading-edge system, I feel that we
should keep updates happening promptly. Of course, one could also have a R-prev
or something like that in case someone wanted to keep the older version. I
prefer having the latest versions in R.

On the other hand, conveniently, R releases just a few weeks before a Fedora
release. This term it is much longer because Fedora 26 slipped schedules pretty
badly.
Thanks!

Exactly. Alternatively you can create an override with multiple packages at
once. I would not expect that you have to do this for every package, as I hope
there is not a depency chain 1-1-1-1-1...{1:package;'-':override}, but rather 5
packages depending on one(or two), so in that case you would need only one(or
two) override(s) for the package(s) others depend on. Note that this is for
build time dependencies only.

So, now i need a buildroot-override for the new coin-or-Ipopt build?
Then, also for coin-or-Bonmin for others again?

You have to create an override for every package, that you want to have
available for other packages.

Re: How to use a buildroot-override

2017-06-30 Thread Antonio Trande
Another question about the 'buildroot override'.

I have created a new buildroot-override from MUMPS-5.1.1.
Inside it i rebuilt a new version of coin-or-Ipopt:
https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2017-95ad16b7a5
Other packages (coin-or-OS, coin-or-Couenne, coin-or-Bonmin) depend by
coin-or-Ipopt, but looks i can't rebuild them for a broken Ipopt-->MUMPS
dependency.

This is a coin-or-Bonmin rebuild inside the same buildroot-override from
MUMPS-5.1.1:
https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=20263935

[EPEL-devel] Re: Will EPEL 6 get the new LTS Qt release?

2017-06-30 Thread Stephen John Smoogen
QT5 is shipped by RHEL/CentOS with EPEL only shipping a couple of
extra libs that Red Hat does not bundle up. If RHEL/CentOS move to 5.9
in RHEL-7.n then the 2-3 packages in EPEL will also get moved to 5.9.
Otherwise it will be with whatever RHEL ships.

Fedora 26 Final Release Readiness Meeting on Thursday, July 6th @ 19:00 UTC

2017-06-30 Thread Jan Kurik
Join us on irc.freenode.net in #fedora-meeting-2 for the Fedora 26
Final Release Readiness Meeting meeting.

The meeting is going to be held on Thursday, July 6th, 2017 at 19:00
UTC. Please check the [1] link for your time zone.

We will meet to make sure we are coordinated and ready for the Final
release of Fedora 26. Please note that this meeting is going to be
held even if the release is delayed at the Go/No-Go meeting on the
same day two hours earlier.

You may received this message several times, but it is by purpose to
open this meeting to the teams and to raise awareness, so hopefully
more team representatives will come to this meeting. This meeting
works best when we have representatives from all of the teams.

For more information please check the [2] link.

As I will not be available for this meeting, Jaroslav Reznik
will be the moderator. Please contact Jaroslav in case of a need for
additional information.

Fedora 26 Final Go/No-Go Meeting on Thursday, July 6th @ 17:00 UTC

2017-06-30 Thread Jan Kurik
Join us on irc.freenode.net in #fedora-meeting-2 for this important
meeting, wherein we shall determine the readiness of the Fedora 26
Final.

The meeting is going to be held on Thursday, July 6th, 2017 at 17:00
UTC. Please check the [1] link for your time zone.

Before each public release Development, QA and Release Engineering
meet to determine if the release criteria are met for a particular
release. This meeting is called the Go/No-Go Meeting. Verifying that
the Release criteria are met is the responsibility of the QA Team.

Release Candidate (RC) availability and good QA coverage are
prerequisites for the Go/No-Go meeting. If you have any bug on the
list, please help us with the Final release. If we won't be ready by
Thursday, we will use this meeting to review blockers and decide what
to do.

In the meantime, please keep also an eye on the Fedora 26 Final
Blocker list [2].

For more details about this meeting please follow the [3] link.

As I will not be available for this meeting, Jaroslav Reznik
will be the moderator. Please contact Jaroslav in case of a need for
additional information.
