Re: Orphaned packages looking for new maintainers
Now that this is solved, we do have Electrum for f39 and rawhide. But unfortunately, without updating protobuf, newer versions won't be possible. I tried just patching the version check to relax it to protobuf 3.19 and it won't work. Also note that in 4.4.x, it doesn't say 3.12 in requirements.txt anymore, but 3.20. -- Jonathan Am 07.09.23 um 13:58 schrieb Ben Beasley: It looks like the Electrum build is currently blocked not by protobuf, but by the failure of python-qdarkstyle to rebuild for Python 3.12[1][2]. That dependency is also currently orphaned. Grepping through the Electrum source, I see: Electrum-4.3.4/contrib/requirements/requirements.txt 2:protobuf>=3.12,<4 Electrum-4.3.4/contrib/requirements/requirements-hw.txt 32:protobuf>=3.12,<4 Electrum-4.3.4/contrib/deterministic-build/requirements-hw.txt 175:protobuf==3.20.3 \ Electrum-4.3.4/contrib/deterministic-build/requirements.txt 31:protobuf==3.20.3 \ Based on that, it looks like the minimum protobuf version should actually be 3.12 (we have 3.19), not 3.20; the latter should only be the preferred version for deterministic builds. So I suspect everything will be fine if you can get python-qdarkstyle fixed. A newer Electrum version would fix that, but F39 still has no new enough protobuf. Is there any other solution here than saying packaging Electrum for Fedora 39 is just not possible and remove the package in F39, then reintroduce it in F40 (that is, if F40 finally gets a newer protobuf)? ___ devel mailing list -- devel@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to devel-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org Do not reply to spam, report it: https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/new_issue ___ devel mailing list -- devel@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to devel-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org Do not reply to spam, report it: https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/new_issue

[Bug 2240458] New: Perl 5.38 breaks Irssi locale
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2240458 Bug ID: 2240458 Summary: Perl 5.38 breaks Irssi locale Product: Fedora Version: 39 Hardware: x86_64 URL: https://github.com/irssi/scripts.irssi.org/issues/857 OS: Linux Status: NEW Component: perl Severity: medium Assignee: jples...@redhat.com Reporter: mjusz...@redhat.com QA Contact: extras...@fedoraproject.org CC: iarn...@gmail.com, jples...@redhat.com, ka...@ucw.cz, mmasl...@redhat.com, mspa...@redhat.com, perl-devel@lists.fedoraproject.org, ppi...@redhat.com, psab...@redhat.com, rhug...@redhat.com, spo...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Classification: Fedora After upgrade to Fedora 39 beta one of scripts in irssi (irc client) broke. After checking what is going on (I do not know Perl) I found out that length of string was reported with negative sign. Opened a ticket at Irssi github account https://github.com/irssi/scripts.irssi.org/issues/857 and went through debugging a bit. Turned out that Perl 5.38 drops locale settings when embedded in C. There is a bug for it already: https://github.com/Perl/perl5/issues/21366 I do not know which solution should be taken to make it work properly. For irssi script I have hacky workaround. But would be nice to not have such bug on release of new Fedora version. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. set locale to any UTF-8 one (I use pl_PL.UTF-8) 2. run irssi 3. run "/script exec print Text::CharWidth::mbswidth("─")" command Actual Results: Should return "1" Expected Results: Returns "-1" irssi-1.4.4-5.fc39.x86_64 perl-5.38.0-500.fc39.x86_64 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2240458 Report this comment as SPAM: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/enter_bug.cgi?product=Bugzilla=report-spam_desc=Report%20of%20Bug%202240458%23c0 ___ perl-devel mailing list -- perl-devel@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to perl-devel-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/perl-devel@lists.fedoraproject.org Do not reply to spam, report it: https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/new_issue

Martin Gansser writes: I have copied the virtual machine from a Windows computer to my Fedora 38 computer and shotcut can no longer be compiled here, but it can on the Windows computer. Do I have to repair the file system on the Linux computer or do anything else? You snipped out the relevant details of the filesystem being corrupted due to a likely RAM error. The bad RAM could be on either machine. If the bad RAM was on your Windows computer, you copied it off unstable hardware, and your entire VM's integrity has been compromised in some unknown way. You might try making another copy of the VM, and if you don't end up with identical corruption it likely indicates that the bad RAM corrupted the data in transit, and the original VM image is /probably/ ok. However until you isolate and replace the faulty RAM you can't really do anything with some guarantee of stability.
