Package rubygem-mercenary has not been updated to 0.4.0, released over a

Is possible for me to take it?
You do not need to be a proven packager to adopt a package, being a
"normal" packager is enough. In that case you just click a button at
package's src.fp.o

I noticed due to an upstream bug report for a project I am on that the Fedora
packaging guidelines still say that GUI applications should install their files
as appdata.xml files and not metainfo.xml files
a whole new package is no the first thing I
can do for Fedora, requiring a sponsor and so on, so I suppose I should
start by contributing version updates for my applications' dependencies
or such easier tasks.
