Claim ownership of python-pydispatcher

2023-02-21 Thread Eduardo Javier Echeverria Alvarado
Following the process of
https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/package-maintainers/Package_Retirement_Process/,
I'd like to claim the ownership of the python-pydispatcher package; it's a
dependency of one of my packages to install It, so I'd like to maintain it

Open a ticket in FPC, you can may only use directories in the
/opt/fedora, however fpc can help you decide whether it's a valid use
of /opt and what subdirectory should be allocated for your use [1][2]

 hi,

I am working on packaging an upstream (aerospike) which presently puts some
 of its file in /opt/aerospike.

The two main folders in use (by upstream) are

/opt/aerospike/sys/udf/lua - This has the user defined lua functions
 shipped with the package.
/opt/aerospike/usr/udf/ - This will have the user's custom UDFs.

What will be the right place in FHS to put the above two directories when
packaging for Fedora? Should these go into /usr/share/aerospike or some
 place in /var?

 regards

I'd like to know why yaws was retired as it's a Web server still being

I feel unaccountably unhappy when I see that almost other major

only install yaws in EPEL7 only with a dated 1.98 version.

 Thanks.

Re: Why isn't F2FS support in the Kernel?

2014-12-25 Thread Eduardo Javier Echeverria Alvarado

FWIW, I see that f2fs-tools is in fedora, but it's a bit old, at v1.2.0
 while upstream is at 1.4.0.

If you're agitating for movement in the kernel, might want to give the
userspace pkg maintainer ( echevemaster ) a heads up, too.

Done, the package has been updated. (would be great to count with the
support in the kernel soon.)

Hi Derek, you can view a detailed list of the available sponsors in
our Fedora accounts system, looking for the packager group and after
clicking in sponsors (there are some filters, administrators,
sponsors, users), then choose someone and send an email to him or
her.

One thing more. the best way of get a sponsor is, doing a good
package following the fedora guidelines and will be almost certainly
that some sponsor will be willing to sponsor you.

Best Regards.

Ok, where do I find a Sponsor? on this list, or is there another one? Or
is that the whole part where I have to submit the package, open up a bug

Thanks, I'm looking forward to helping where I can -- I've got some somewhat

Proposal of a Fedora site for teaching at new contributors A.K.A Fedora College - My talk in Flock

2013-07-29 Thread Eduardo Javier Echeverria Alvarado
Hi folks, I'm Eduardo Echeverria (echevemaster), ambassador and
packager maintainer

On the Fedora Latam community, my colleagues and me, we have been
developing an idea about a site dedicated to teaching new contributors
through of videocast, is well known that the people learn much better
of visual form; nowadays we have a wiki with an enormous quantity of
information, certainly very valuable; that has been constructed
through of the years; I want to do a complement for that. A site that
would be as an extensive library of content of our procedures,
guidelines, roles for becoming a fedora contributor.

We can all remember our beginnings in Fedora, maybe someone we tended
a hand, maybe someone used his time to teach us about how to do
things, the fact is that with the passage of time we have gained
experience; so it would be very good to take a few minutes of our time
to make a video about our skills about the group that we belong
(packaging , translation, documentation, among others) over time we
will achieve a broad base of content that will make more easier the
path to become an experienced contributor.

The idea is to build an online learning environment using video-based
educational resources, (yes, other new guidelines apply here, :) with
validated content provided by the community at large, and that we can
correct errors or answer questions before to do the real work in
Fedora.

Very soon we will to present to you, the workflow, code repository and
mailing list so they can contribute at this new project.

Sadly I can't attend to the flock in person, due to personal motives;
I'll to do my talk in video, I advance you , that my pronunciation in
english is still limited and I'll try of talk as clear as possible.

Here you go my talk, all advices are welcomed

 Hello,

my name is Marcus and I am 32 years old, working as senior system engineer
and life in Germany. My focus is on monitoring and automation in data center
enviroments. I am using linux since 2000 and have tried nearly all main
 distributions.
I choose fedora because of the integration of new technologies and the good
integration of the community into redhat.

Doing packaging is interesting for me, to learn building software packages
to reuse it without any further work and distribute software to a large
 amount of server.

 Best regards

 Hi Álvaro,

I think your question is not very clear. What does cybers Windows
mean? I can't find any reference to a Fedora KIOS Spin (unless you mean
 kiosk spin).

Promotion of any project, including Fedora, needs to be done carefully.
If you push people away from tools they are happy with to something new,
they may reject it out of hand. All then that is accomplished is a group of
people who speak badly when they hear Fedora.

Promoting a project means that you have to share the good and the bad.
People have to have a realistic view of what the technology can do and
where people might run into trouble. You need to help people understand
what they gain from a new project and how difficult they should expect the
learning curve to be. There is a good chance that the benefits do not (yet)
outweigh the learning curve. In such a case, they are better to stay on the
 tools they know for now.

 Hope this helps.

It just jumps to 100% when it's finished. Perhaps try waiting a bit or try
