Fedora i18n team was tracking this task. In todays meeting [1] we analyzed

You can't actually preview metainfo files in the same way as AppData
files; they have to be run through appstream-builder before they are
useful. If you're technically savvy, you can install
appstream-builder, generate some metadata, and then look at the logs,
but the easier way is just to look at my daily rebuilds of rawhide:

For instance, this is Lato:

Two things look to be the problem:

?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8
needs to be:
?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8?

value key=FontSampleTextമനുഷ്യരെല്ലാവരും/key
needs to be:
value key=FontSampleTextമനുഷ്യരെല്ലാവരും/value

Also, if you're making changes upstream (yay! upstream! thanks!) could
you please fix this:

appstream-util validate /home/hughsie/smc.metainfo.xml
/home/hughsie/smc.metainfo.xml: FAILED:
• style-invalid : p does not end in '.|:|!'
• style-invalid : Not enough p tags for a good description

Basically, the description has to end with a dot, and if possible be a
little longer. Thanks.

Added AppStream data upstream for fonts I maintain and built updates
for f21 and master branches.

Updated the tracking sheet.

It's really easy to add content for fonts. This is an example with
 multiple subpackages:

 http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/cgit/silkscreen-fonts.git/commit/?id=32acdd5aa900ad732c023a73f7cd269a136f0957
and fonts with only one package are even easier, e.g.

 http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/cgit/oflb-brett-fonts.git/commit/?id=72ff3099f733949f9526221b47a63eff9b9b969d

 Thanks for templates :)

Indeed, it would be good to know how to test this.

I did think about creating a new update for each build, but that's so
much clicking. For something as simple as this an update with ~30
packages is very easy to submit, test and push. Feel free to submit
individual updates for your packages if that's preferable.

Cool, thanks. Any chance you could mark those in the spreadsheet
