You've needed to?

There's no direct equivalent to vbetool post.  KMS drivers handle 
suspend/resume in the kernel.  Some of them have lockup detection and 
have implemented GPU resets internally (which is far more complex than 
vbetool post); others don't and haven't.


I'm curious what you think the use case is.

It's long time when I used the tool. After getting my nvidia card into
undefined state (X server crash, relicts after playing with video
overlay or directfb console etc.).

Maybe the drivers are much better today. I just worry about removing
functionality.
