Thanks! That's very helpful.

I believe it will also be broken with gcc-13 default
compiler options (although there is a (smallisth) PR
to fix it).

No, but it will become more and more difficult to maintain. Right now it
needs to be ported from pcre to pcre2 which is beyond my capabilities.

That being said, I don't have immediate plans to orphan/retire but wanted
to start the conversation before it was an issue.

Just because a project is dead upstream does not mean it has to be removed
from Fedora.

Since this is a library, not a leaf package, that would have to happen
before we can even consider removing the package from Fedora.

So Blender upstream would have to move to something different. Please take
it up with the upstream Blender project. As long as Blender depends on
OpenCOLLADA, OpenCOLLADA should remain in Fedora.

OpenCOLLADA dead upstream

2022-11-30 Thread Richard Shaw
So it looks like the last commit was in 2018:

https://github.com/KhronosGroup/OpenCOLLADA

Before we go ripping it out of Fedora, is anyone aware of another active
upstream we can port to?

It's a shame as this was one of my first (if not my first) projects I
packaged for Fedora over 10 years ago.

It looks like the only direct consumer is Blender (cc'd).

Thanks,
Richard
