Re: samurai-x2: Python-based window manager

 Hi,

Recently it was discussed here why no Python library existed that
 interacted directly with core X11.

Today I saw mentioned at lwn.net the Python-based window manager
samurai-x2 which might be interesting in relation to that, and perhaps
even more concretely as a default Window manager for Sugar?

 More info here: http://samurai-x.org/

 And here: http://lwn.net/Articles/312681/

If there is interest, I would be happy to attempt packaging samurai-x2
for Debian. I have plenty of other interesting tasks too, so will only
do if if someone finds it relevant.

I saw that as well, but had wanted to give it a try before speaking up.

for the OLPC folks they would primarily want it packaged for Fedora 10. I
personally would be interested to see how it works with Debian (with the
thought that having good alternate distros will either force Fedora to
slim down to be used in this sort of application, or eventually the
overhead of running Fedora will be high enough to warrent a switch to
something that can be slimmed down more)

I am still using Window Maker as my primary window manager (except on one
laptop where I have KDE becouse the ubuntu windowmaker package didn't work
well), so I don't count as a 'typical' desktop user.

There are a few other great videos up that are worth sharing where

as a suggestion for people generating videos like this, please subtitle
them in english.

while I understand that much of the world uses a primary laguange other

international communication.

besides, a very large percentage of the people who need to get the message
are in the US, and very few of them know many other languages.
