I have a bunch of little utilities I load up for new build testing right
after reflashing, if you are interested. They are listed here:

Yes, I discovered this week we don't ship any form of ntpdate or means
of setting the hw clock via ntp with the XO releases, the other thing
was also dig/host/nslookup. Any reasons for missing those useful
utils?

XO 1.75 quick notes

2011-10-02 Thread Kevin Gordon
performed fs-update from USB
1) nice little graphic at the bottom left of the screen as the machine
restarted, to upgrade f/w from QB409 to QB410
2) Still no pretty boot for me.
3) yum check gives a mssing dependency of mesa-dri-drivers (same on XO 1.5)
4) yum update completes successfully with "No Packages marked to Update".
5) yum update does not check the three updates-testing repos, (unlike the XO
1.5)
5) DSD: did a yum install binutils, then ran your test.sh script, reports:
BROKEN usr/lib/libgfx/libGAL.so.1 - (same as os6)
6) Tap-to-click is indeed no longer active

Dennis Gilmore worked it out on IRC -- my clock wasn't in the right
year, with the result that the SSL cert wasn't in its valid range.
(It's a shame the error from yum doesn't distinguish between a simple
404 and an SSL transaction error.)

So, if you see the above error and no-one else seems to be having
problems, check your system date. :)

Yum doesn't work here on os8 for xo-1.75, it gives:

Error: Cannot retrieve metalink for repository: fedora.

I discovered that "sed -ei 's/https/http/g' /etc/yum.repos.d/*.repo"
fixes the problem; maybe we're not shipping the https cert or something.

Its a bug. Speaking of XO-1 only:

The leftmost LED behaviour is as it has always been: on solidly when
connected, off when disconnected, blinking when scanning for networks.

The rightmost LED used to go on solidly when connected to the mesh,
and blink when communicating over the mesh (I think).

The bug we have now is that the rightmost LED is permanently off,
meshing or not. This has been like this for ages - since 10.1.x I
think. I did spend a few hours trying to fix it a while ago, and
didn't get anywhere, and couldn't justify spending more time on it.

2011-10-02 Thread Hal Murray

My XO-1 used to blink a LED when it sent/received packets. That doesn't
happen any more. Is that a feature or bug?

ping is the obvious test case. Nothing blinks for me.

There are 2 LEDs in the lower-left: a vertical bar with a ball on top and a
set of parens around a center dot. This picture:
  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:XO-1-4th_gen-features.jpg
calls them Storage Access and WiFi Access. My Storage is on solid. The WiFi
is off solid.

I just saw the "Storage" LED blink. The pattern was what I expect when it
scans the other channels for access points.

If I disconnect, the Storage LED goes out. It goes back on when I reconnect.
