This is a real PITA if you want to use a ad-hoc network with a dhcp server to handle the ip address assignment, and thus the routing to the gateway. The commercial version is priced at INR 2999 (~$60), and will have a GPRS modem (Probably without 3G capabilities). Both h/w versions won't have a camera and speakers (but will have audio in/out jacks). There's news floating around that another faster version is in the works and early pieces might start to appear around Feb 2012[1]. > > wad > > On Nov 14, 2011, at 7:27 AM, Mikus Grinbergs wrote: > >> Low-cost Aakash tablet: >>> http://venturebeat.com/2011/10/26/aakash-android-tablet-exclusive/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed:+Venturebeat+(VentureBeat) >> >> >>> ___ >> Devel mailing list Devel@lists.laptop.org >> http://lists.laptop.org/listinfo/devel > > ___ Devel mailing list > Devel@lists.laptop.org http://lists.laptop.org/listinfo/devel [1] http://kashmirmonitor.org/11142011-ND-better-faster-aakash-2-to-be-launched-in-feb-2012-14670.aspx - -- Anish -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJOxRupAAoJEBoxUdDHDZVpptMIAJ6xmJYo0N1RVl32iRi94Lk8 ibnI5gCZei6P0QUKGbaJq03cgBCdNrQXwG859vJlzG9Y17VYIMoZ5yZbuZ2h3lBg HLTjABoo0Mfxd1RMdTu/2aojFZDWCYhKgxe/AqB4jpb424ys5KBsPgokLZGeilZy zDQRH6hlzetDIoSX6na7I99EhOnLQDGX8B6/MY30+IlBoM7taGGUwlNt2fw3fmR6 pN7o91eSSrY0yUg5pyyPITUZ713Ehfu05pxTk65rKkUzRgqEwnHV7TYGZz805maU WQ6biUSCIEvzHQTu00DcAg8R/PbPASSxHgGTeHqdtUwXlIk46apzRAKHZHV3Nxw= =cL26 -END PGP SIGNATURE- ___ Devel mailing list Devel@lists.laptop.org http://lists.laptop.org/listinfo/devel
Re: XO-3 competitor?
There's a commercial model that the company is going to be selling in the UK I believe at a higher price to recover the development costs or something along those lines. I've been keeping an eye out for UK availability but I've not seen it yet either. I also saw this unit from Toys-R-Us the other day. It looks like a standard tablet embedded in a rubber case. http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/11/toys-r-us-nabi-android-tablet-lets-junior-play-while-mommy-drin/ Peter On Thu, Nov 17, 2011 at 2:30 AM, John Watlington wrote: > > or replacement ? > > I haven't been able to get a hold of one, in order to test it. > > There have been other articles about the $35 price.
