The small number of "non-refurbished" machines are earmarked for testing, whereas the developer program taps directly into production. BTW, motherboard are not in general swappable between pre-production builds. I'm the person that has retrofitted the first motherboards brought up into older plastic, and I don't recommend it (even if C2 -> B4 is one of the easier ones.) wad ___ Devel mailing list Devel@lists.laptop.org http://lists.laptop.org/listinfo/devel

I'm not suggesting that everyone get these things. I really wish that people receiving developer machines posted to devel or planet.laptop.org on a regular basis and, if possible, introduced themselves on our Profiles page. Re: B4 motherboard question
You should definitely get a new system. We aren't set up to handle motherboards separately. And now we are in production, people should be much less shy about asking for developer machines in general; before production started we had limited numbers of prototypes, but this is not a concern and we have more machines allocated for developers than current demand. - Jim On Mon, 2008-07-14 at 10:37 -0400, Guylhem Aznar wrote: > Hello > > I wouldn't necessarily want another machine - just a motherboard from > say a machine that has been returned with a broken screen, or > whatever, would be fine > > A fully working XO would be best used for someone who hasn't one yet IMHO. > > Anyway, I'll drop a message > > Thanks > Guylhem > ___ > Devel mailing list > Devel@lists.laptop.org > http://lists.laptop.org/listinfo/devel -- Jim Gettys <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> One Laptop Per Child ___ Devel mailing list Devel@lists.laptop.org http://lists.laptop.org/listinfo/devel
Re: B4 motherboard question
Hello I wouldn't necessarily want another machine - just a motherboard from say a machine that has been returned with a broken screen, or whatever, would be fine A fully working XO would be best used for someone who hasn't one yet IMHO. Re: B4 motherboard question
If you received a B4 through the developer's program, you should request a mass production machine (again) through the developer's program. Mention that you already have a B4, but intend to work on issues related to suspend/resume. B4 motherboard question
Hello I was wondering if I could return my motherboard to get a current "mass-production" one without the documented hardware bugs : I fear I may not be able to perform all the fixes required (http://wiki.laptop.org/go/B4_Suspend_ECR), while I would need suspend support. I guess the current motherboard will also support Windows XP, which would be a good thing. Alternatively, I am now located in Martinique (the island next to Dominica) : if there's anyone from the project in the Caribbean who could give a hand with the hardware fix, I could certainly carry my B4 over there.
