I would love to convert my OLPC Installer for Windows over to VMWare. In my experience it provides a better experience on Windows. I'd also like to convert it over to using Bert's image rather than the stock 8.2.0 image. What would be even better would be for the OLPC guys to set up emulator

It may be feasible to do this on Fedora, but it is not yet feasible on Ubuntu. Sugar doesn't do anything interesting there because the networking is broken. (They are working on it and the problem might be solved in a test version, but it isn't feasible for someone who just wants to use standard

I got the bare image working in virtualbox. Btw, if I had to do it again I'd start with an image that already has the activities installed: http://download.laptop.org/xo-1/custom/g1g1/gg-767-4/ I downloaded this but Virtualbox says it is not bootable. Is this perhaps not ext3 filesystem?
