Weird, I just tried the 3/16/ daily Forensics and problem is still there.
Has the fix been applied to the dailys?

What kernel are they running?
Can you point me to the exact iso image on mirrors?

I read that the build date for them is still:
16-Mar-2013 13:31
Let me see

ISO images haven't been pushed to mirror since March 20, and the
working XfceForensic build is =March 23.
I will fix this.

It is definitely a kernel bug, I'm quite sure.
And, I also think it's related to the USB subsystem. Could you try to
burn the ISO image to a DVD disc and boot off it?
Going to do the same here

burnt to dvd and booted just fine

so your hunch is probably correct

I am pushing Linux 3.8.3 directly to main right now (repo revision 2878).
I will test is as soon as it is available, more or less.

No, I am afraid to say that the problem is not solved yet.
I am still working on it, I restricted the area to the USB controller
driver ehci-hcd.

Don't mean to interject, but if you have a second system, you could just pull
the drive out of the system that's having issues and throw it in a working
system. Mount the drive and see if the logs can be pulled that way. Or had this
already been attempted?

This is a bold claim, the system boots. You can interactively boot as
well (press I when OpenRC says so), you can start in debug
Fine, it doesn't finish booting, happy now?

Ran into a problem with last builds of not being able to boot dailys so I
thought I would wait and try again with new builds, since nobody else
reported anything, problem still exists and now another user reports issue
