Dear all,

In response to a number of off-list comments, and our own evaluation of the directions of the mbuni project, we are proposing a change of open source licensing, from the current to a GPL-style license. This license would of course include an exception for linking against Kannel (see http://www.fsf.org/licensing/licenses/gpl- faq.html#GPLIncompatibleLibs), and would cover new Mbuni versions going forward.

The key driver for this change is better protection of input by all parties going forward. And warmer feelings all round.

I realise we are making a move to a more restrictive license, which always sends the wrong signals, but in this case it seems justified, and is in the interests of developers. I would be grateful for your views.

On another note, eager beavers have been hard at work on some of the features mentioned earlier, I should be posting code for users to try and out provide feedback as we head towards first release. The goal is to have a 1.0 before June (yes, with MM7 support).

Cheers

Paul.
