Anyone familiar with xvmc have any thoughts on this?

Hi List.
XvMC seems to be not much used as the mailing-list archive shows.
But since someone made a patch to mplayer (the movie player) this might
change soon.
I tried to use this with my i830 MP laptop graphics. I use a debian package
for unstable from penguinpcc.org, X 4.3.0, and the newest (2003/07/09) dri
package from dri.sf.net. I also added Option "XvMCSurfaces" "6" to the
config and use 16 (32)MB RAM.
But when I try to use either mplayer then I get this:
vo_xvmc: X-Video extension 2.2
vo_xvmc: No X-Video MotionCompensation Extension on :0
Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device.

With mpeg2play_accel (http://www.xfree86.org/~mvojkovi/)I get this:
couldn't find a suitable port

I tried changing the 6 to a 7 but this made no difference. The x log even
says:

(WW) I810(0): Option "XvMCSurfaces" is not used

Before it said this though:

(II) Loading extension XVideo-MotionCompensation

Sooo, does anyone know whats wrong? I am running out of ideas and I can't
read source well enough...
Thanks a lot

Udo Puetz
