I think the analysis of the root cause is flawed. For example, "tetex" does have commits and branches (and tags). It does not have a rawhide ref (nor main), though, because it apparantly got abandoned since the dist-git conversion. Also, what is "retire a repository"? We retire packages. And that is what we should do with non-empty repos like e.g. tetex, in order to keep distribution history, unless we decide to make a cut in our history. We could prune completely empty repos, but really, please re-check: git ls-remote https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/ardour9 71f0fde7f664dfcded613ae62c9a149db50e5d13HEAD 71f0fde7f664dfcded613ae62c9a149db50e5d13refs/heads/f42 71f0fde7f664dfcded613ae62c9a149db50e5d13refs/heads/f43 71f0fde7f664dfcded613ae62c9a149db50e5d13refs/heads/f44 71f0fde7f664dfcded613ae62c9a149db50e5d13refs/heads/rawhide Michael -- ___ devel mailing list -- [email protected] To unsubscribe send an email to [email protected] Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/[email protected] Do not reply to spam, report it: https://forge.fedoraproject.org/infra/tickets/issues/new

Packages with uninitialized git repositories (no commits)
Hi all, While working on branching, Wenoticed a small set of package repositories that appear to have no commits at all. These repositories seem to have been created with “no initial git commit” and were never populated. Because of this, branches such as rawhide do not exist and operations against the repos fail with errors like: fatal: Not a valid object name rawhide The following packages currently fall into this category: ardour9 gaim-otr httpcomponents-core4 ntetris python3.11-testpath-epel python3.11-tomli-w-epel python38-hvac python38-netaddr python38-ntlm-auth-epel python38-pynetbox python38-requests_ntlm-epel python-epel-rpm-macros python-yubikey-manager tetex themonospot v2strip xorg-x11-drv-i810 We will also be contacting the maintainers directly. If you maintain (or know of plans to maintain) any of these packages, please speak up. Unless there is a reason to keep them, the intent is to retire repositories that have never contained any packaging content.
