Morgan, Last night both machines were able to see each other and I was able to do a successful file transfer with Read Etexts, so I guess its an intermittent problem. I've never been able to have the two boxes see each other without specifying a jabber server. I'll try using a different

Benjamin, There is another difference I thought of. The machine that seems to be working OK is running in a Xepher window. I'm using a wide screen flat monitor running at 1440 x 900. The machine that doesn't seem to be working runs at 1024 x 768 and Sugar takes up the entire screen. When
