You need to assign the org units to the user account under Data capture and

Thanks so much Lars.

It will be very useful to extend this to events with registration in the
near future. Our use case is as follows:

We have deployed dhis2 on a cloud server to support PMTCT, HIV
Testing/Counseling and related programs in 20 comprehensive health
facilities and over 50 satellite facilities spread across 4 states.

The comprehensive facilities are in urban areas with access to high speed
Internet so they can enter data directly to the cloud server. The satellite
facilities on the contrary are in rural areas with limited access to
Internet. We will therefore appreciate it if data synchronization will be
extended to events with registration so data can automatically sync to the
cloud instance whenever there is Internet connection.

We were actually relying on *event export* to send data from the satellite
facilities to the central server but that doesn't seem to be working at the
moment. When you select program, stage, period and click on* Export*, it
loads a blank page with the following error...

Firefox can't find the file at

Check the file name for capitalization or other typing errors.
Check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted.

I also tried exporting the data values using Event Export but the programs
are not displayed on the list. Am not sure but I think Event Export worked
in earlier dhis2 releases.

[Dhis2-users] Custom forms with tabs not working in 2.22

Hello,
I used the below script to create a custom form with tabs in version 2.21.
After upgrade to 2.22, the tabs no longer work. They are now rendered
as an ordered list (see snapshot below) and when you click on the list
it takes you out of the data entry form.
Is there something I need to do to the script to get back my tabs?
Please advice.

Hello Devs,

Many thanks for the new improvements in the tracker but there is something
you may want to look into.

With the new design of the data entry form, the name of the program stage
is listed after "date" and "Org unit". This may cause problems during data
entry because the person entering data may not see the name of the program
stage in cases where you have a long org unit name (see snapshot below).

The snapshot below is supposed to display "Birth" and "Baby Postnatal" but
as you can see, the program stage does not show up because of the length of
the org unit name.

In my opinion, the old design is better for the following reasons:

   - The name of the program stage is displayed clearly
   - Program stages are in different "boxes" so you can navigate events in
   a program stage separate from other stages

Thanks a lot Ali.

A workaround for me was to setup a new instance of 2.22 and then I imported
the meta-data and values from the instance with Settings App issue. This
was a bit of a challenge because I had to recreate most of the tracker
programs.

[Dhis2-users] Issue with Settings App after upgrade to 2.22

Hello,

I am having trouble with the Settings App after upgrade from 2.21 to 2.22.

When I click on Apps and on Settings, the page continues to load for hours
(see snapshot below) but it never displays the Settings page.

I have cleared cache and switched to Tomcat 8 but it didn't make a
difference. Meanwhile, nothing shows up in tomcat/logs

The interesting part is that when I roll the server back to dhis2.21 the
settings App loads fine but not with 2.22.

I am using Apache server with Tomcat 7.0.67 and Java 8
dhis2 build version: 21775

I will appreciate any help.

Dear Morten, Knut;

Am thinking that the problem has to do with my database. I just setup a new
instance of dhis2 on the same server and the Settings Apps worked fine. It
stopped working again once I connected to the old database.

The database was originally on dhis 2.18 and over time I upgraded to 2.19
and then to 2.20 and 2.21 and I ran the upgrade scripts at each level so am
wondering what could be wrong with the database?

[Dhis2-users] Issue with program rule in build 20987

Hi Devs,

You may want to check the program rule feature. Its appears the current
build version 20987 has a problem saving rules. When you create a rule and
click on Add, it disappears (e.g. it doesn't show up in your list of rules).

[Dhis2-users] Automatically generated data element values

Hello,

Not sure if this is possible but we are trying to create a data element
with value that is automatically generated using a pre-defined format. The
field in question is a unique ID (e.g. TB Registration Number). In order to
prevent errors, we would like the field to be generated automatically at
data entry.

I have checked through the documentation but didn't see anything related to
this. I will appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks Lars,

We are actually using the indicator widget at the moment. It works
perfectly for small data entry forms because you can see the indicator
value while entering data.

However,  it's little complex when the data entry form is large and you are
entering data at the bottom part of the form. You don't immediately see the
value of the indicator, except you scroll back up to the indicator widget.

[Dhis2-users] Controlling the location of indicators in Tracker

[Ese Egerega]

Hi everyone,

Am not sure if this is possible with the tracker; I have some indicators
and i would like their values displayed on the data entry form in Tracker
capture, right next to the data elements.

Am able to achieve this with custom forms in dataset but not in tracker.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi Hasina,

Am not sure if this is what you mean but I had an experience where program
indicators with the d2:condition function always evaluated to "false" when
displayed in the tracker.

You may want to try using the ternary conditional operator instead:

condition ? if_true : if_false

So your first expression will look like this...

1 > 0 ? 1 : 0

The result will be 1 since the expression (1 > 0) evaluates to true.

Hi Abyot,

It seems there is still a problem with longText/textarea in custom forms. I
actually thought it was a problem with my instance until I tested it on the
dhis2 demo site.

When you add a data element of type longText to a custom form, everything
beyond that data element is not displayed in data entry in Tracker capture.
When you remove the longText data element from the form, everything
displays correctly.

Yes, the aggregate part is more flexible and stable - which has evolved
through time. We will also reach to that stage with the tracker.

I have now implemented longText/textarea input for 2.20 (check for
rev. 19957).

Will try to do the same for 2.19. Trunk has already this.

Data element with data type "Long text" is usually rendered as* text area i*n
data entry when using the default data entry form. However, the same data
element is rendered as an input box (*not text area*) in *custom forms*
making it impossible to see parts of your text as you are typing.

I have tried to work around this by using HTML style tag to stretch the
input box so it fills the entire cell area but it still doesn't make it a *text
area *actually.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

[Dhis2-users] Coordinate capture does not seem to work in Tracker Capture

Hi,

It looks like the coordinate capture feature is not working in the Tracker
Capture app as it does in Event Capture.

When you click on the blue coordinate capture icon during data entry, it
just loads a blank page without the map (see snapshot
http://awesomescreenshot.com/02959r9f73).

Thanks Pramil,

Using single quotes and clearing my cache fixed the problem for me.

However, it appears that the very latest build version 19884 has a problem
with program rules. When you create and add a rule, it disappears. I tested
this on dhis2 demo site and got the same result. I have copied the
developers list in case this is a bug that needs to be fixed.

Dear all,

The Program Rule feature does not seem to be working for me. I am trying to
hide a section in the tracker based on if the Gender selected during
program registration is Female.

To achieve this, I created a program rule that should hide the section but
nothing seem to happen in Tracker Capture. The section is still displayed
as if there is no rule set.

In program rule I entered Gender as source field and used the following as
my expression:

A{Gender} == "Female"

I will appreciate any assistance.

[Dhis2-users] Issue with tracker capture

Dear All,

There is this issue am experiencing with the tracker capture app. Not sure
if thats how it is supposed to work or if its bug.

When you click on the name of a tracked entity for the first time you get a
blank result and a message that the person is not enrolled for any program
even when the person is enrolled for programs. You have to click on the
back button and then click on the tracked entity the second time for it
work. I think this happens when you open a new browser.

I tested this on the dhis2 demo site (http://apps.dhis2.org/demo) and my
experience was the same.

Am not sure if this is peculiar to my computer or if its a general problem.

Thanks for your email.

It will be nice to keep the "Active Programs" section if we are dropping
"Individual records" module. With the "Active Programs" section you see all
the *active programs* of a tracked entity *in one place*. See snapshot

Looking at the "Tracker Capture" app, we have "Feedback", Profile",
Relationships" and "Note" on the right pane. It will be nice to have
"Active Programs" on that list as well with an "Enroll" link just as we
have it in the "Individual Records" module presently. See snapshot

Also, "Individual records" module loads much faster than the "Tracker
Capture" app. Something you may want to look into.

system. The home page loads quite alright but when I try to login I get the
following error message:

[Dhis2-users] Can the tracker be used for tracking health workers?

Hello,

I have been using dhis2 but never had to use the tracker. During the
Academy in Liberia, we were made to understand that the tracker can be used
to track individual records of patients or beneficiaries.

I am wondering if the tracker will be a good tool for tracking *health
workers *with the aim of aggregating records such as:

   - health workers per organization
   - health workers per facility
   - health workers disaggregated by gender
   - Number of health workers retiring this year and so on

Any comments or recommendation will be appreciated.

[Dhis2-users] Problem with data approval

Hello,

I just upgraded to 2.15 and I am trying out the data approval feature. I
followed the steps on the documentation carefully but it doesn't seem to be
working on my setup. The dataset status keeps going back to Ready for
Approval even though I had approved it. I am also able to enter data; the
dataset is supposed to be locked for the particular org unit and period
after approval but it's not.

I have followed the same steps on the demo site (Sierra Leone) and it works
perfectly but it wouldn't work in my setup. I am wondering what I am not
getting right.

Your comments will me appreciated.

Hi Lars,

I restarted my server and report table is now working but am still having
trouble using the* downloading as report* link. Meanwhile, tomcat log is
not showing any errors (see below).

When I run the report table, I can download as Excel, CSV, PDF and JRXML
but I get an error when I click on *Download as report.*

Below is the URL of the page that loads. I noticed also that when I change
the word jasper on the URL to pdf, it works perfectly with no errors.

Any idea why this is happening? Please advice.

I downloaded and installed an X windows server on the client machine I am 
connecting from and gedit started working. It was very slow though. I ended up 
using nano. 

You are correct Bob. There is an area in your manual that talks about PgAdmin3 
but like you said, it is not working. I had to use psql instead. 

There is also an area in the manual that talks about apache-tomcat; I followed 
the steps on preparing tomcat for dhis. Tomcat is now running but it is not 
executing dhis. Is there something else i need to do? Please advice.

If you have the time, I can provide you with the login details to my server so 
you can login and check.

 Yes I think we have a section in our manual that refers to gedit on
 ubuntu server which won't work.  Instead of gedit you need to use a
 terminal based editor like vi (if you already know it) or nano or pico
 which may be easier for beginners.
 
 You also won't be able to run pgadmin directly on the server.  Either
 use the psql command interface or access using pgadmin from a client
 machine (if you've set up postgres permissions to allow you to do
 this).

  The kind of error you are getting is usually caused by the X environment
  missing its DISPLAY property. Did you do this through an SSH session? To

Thanks for your time Morten. What I meant is gedit *or* pgadmin3.

gedit is a graphical text editor in Ubuntu. pgadmin3 is also a graphical
application that can be used to administer postgresql database. I get the
error message* (Error: Unable to initialize gtk, is display set
properly?) *each
time I try to run any of those programs.
I am connecting through Putty to the Ubuntu 10.0.4 server.

 The kind of error you are getting is usually caused by the X environment
 missing its DISPLAY property. Did you do this through an SSH session? To

I am wondering if anyone can be of help...I am having issues with the GIS
module.

I downloaded a shape file for my country and converted one of the extracted
files (NGA_adm2.shp) to GML using ogr2gui.

I further changed the NAME_2 tag as directed. Finally, I made sure that
the names in my gml file have exactly the same names as the org unit names
in DHIS.

The problem is that nothing happens when I import the GML file to DHIS. All
the elements show none

Good morning All,

I am having a problem with a form I created in custom view. I have a drop
down menu in my form which displays categories of training (.i.e Time
management, Report writing, Leadership etc).

The problem is that the values I select from the drop down menu is not
showing in my report (i.e. not posted). All I see is the drop down menu
displayed in report view.

Any suggestions on how this can be fixed?
