Re: [Dhis2-users] DHIS-2 demo portal not working

2018-09-20 Thread Bob Jolliffe
Hi Randy

I am not sure who is responsible for maintaining that portal demo, but
perhaps one of the reasons it has fallen into disrepair is that this is
really not a good example to follow. If you look at the page source you
will notice that the credentials to access the objects (admin:district) in
this case are in plain view. You couldn't really do it like this for a for
a production server. There have been cases where people have slavishly
followed this example and created serious vulnerabilities in some very
large dhis2 implementations.

I am not sure what would be the best approach if you did want to do this.
I suspect the correct thing to do would be to make use of special location
blocks in the web proxy server to expose particular items (charts, maps,
etc) without authentication. That of course could be a little trickier to
setup and maybe explains why it hasn't been done yet in the demo.

Regards
Bob

Hi Sarah,
Thanks for clarifying. This is exactly the portal demo I was referring to.
We would like to embed such objects in the MOH public website here in
Rwanda.

Re: [Dhis2-users] DHIS-2 demo portal not working

2018-09-20 Thread Sarah Searle
I think Randy is referring to the demo of DHIS 2 objects embedded in an
external website, referred to and linked to as a "portal":
https://play.dhis2.org/portal/

I also have noticed that this no longer functions, and that embedding
analytic objects externally seems generally less supported lately, although
it continues to appear in the documentation. Perhaps these features will be
enhanced as Analytics continues to be overhauled in future versions.

Best,
Sarah

Hi all,

It seems the demo portal on DHIS2.org is not working - no data appears. Has
this been abandoned? If not you should probably check the API settings and
probably update the graphic with the new 2.30 graphic objects.

DHIS 2 Tracker 2.0 Training September 10-12, 2018
taking place in Cambridge, United Kingdom
This three-day training will focus on DHIS 2 Tracker functionalities with
particular attention given to new features from version 2.29. The Tracker data
model supports capturing longitudinal individual data and has been
substantially refactored in recent versions for both the web and Android mobile
apps.

To get the most out of this course, some prior exposure to DHIS 2 would be
beneficial. However, there will be an optional one-day introductory course
(September 10, 2018) for those requiring a refresher or without any DHIS 2
experience. At the end of this training, participants will have hands-on
experience of the following:

** 1. Introduction to DHIS 2 Data Models

Participants will be guided through an understanding of DHIS 2 key concepts,
data models, analytic functionalities and new visualization features. Content
presented during this intensive introduction will lay an important foundation
for the Tracker 2.0 training modules. The material and approach will aim for an
optimal balance between theory and practical exercises. Topics covered will
include:
* DHIS 2 basic configuration concepts and design principles
* Three Data Models: Aggregate, Event, Tracker
* Data Entry
* Data Visualization: Charts, Graphs, Maps and Reports
* Dashboards

** 2. Tracker Data Model

Through a number of use cases, facilitators will provide hands-on guidance on
how to configure tracker programs in DHIS 2. The following topics will be
introduced in step-by-step practical sessions:
* Data Elements and Option sets
* Entities
* Tracked entity attributes
* Programs and program stages
* Sharing and user management

** 3. Data Entry

Beyond setting up basic data entry forms, these sessions will present some
robust features that are native to the tracker data model including:
* Dynamic data entry forms (program rules & indicators)
* Registration and enrollment
* Entity dashboard and settings
* Relationship and Tracker Associate data element type
* Tracker Capture Android App

** 4. Mobile Data Capture

DHIS 2 provides native Android applications for offline data entry. There has
been significant investment in refactoring and improving these apps. There will
be sessions focussing on two apps specifically:
* Tracker Capture App
* Event Capture App

** 5. Event Analytics

Reporting and visualization tools for individual data will be presented using
common use cases and examples. Topics covered will include:
* Indicators (Program and integrated)
* Notification
* Event report and visualizer
* Integrated analytics
* GIS

Prerequisites: Some basic familiarity with DHIS 2 would be useful but not
essential

Target audience:
* Already using DHIS 2 but now exploring the option of capturing individual
data.
* Working with an older version of DHIS 2 Tracker and evaluating new Tracker
functionalities.
* No exposure to DHIS 2 Tracker but considering how it might be useful as a
data/case management tool.

Facilitators: Blake Hansen, Dapo Adejumo, Busoye Anifalaje, Nina Langli

Participants must bring their own laptop and chargers. Extention cords and Wifi
will be provided.

Please note that space is limited and we can only accommodate 24 participants.
Take advantage of the Earlybird tickets (only 8 available)!

2018-03-13 Thread Lars Helge Øverland
Hi,

as some of you have noticed we have a *dhis2* tag on the *ProWebmasters*
community on StackExchange. This platform is for Q, meaning concrete
questions with concrete answers (as opposed to e.g. the long conversations
you can find on the mailing lists).

There are currently several open and unanswered questions which you can
find here:

https://webmasters.stackexchange.com/questions/tagged/dhis2

It's much appreciated if anyone would like to contribute by answering
questions.

best regards,

[Dhis2-users] DHIS 2 Symposium 2018 registration now open

2017-12-12 Thread Lars Helge Øverland
Hi all,

The annual DHIS 2 Symposium will be held on *March 22nd and 23rd*, 2018 at
the *FHI 360 Conference Center* in Washington, D.C.

The global digital health space is moving at a rapid pace, making
exponential gains within the last few years. After less than 10 years of
development, DHIS 2 is being implemented in more than 60 countries, with
almost 30 operating at national scale. This rapid global expansion of DHIS
2 has led to exciting collaborations and partnerships targeted at improving
LMIC health systems.

In the 4th DHIS 2 Symposium we’ll look at how international partnerships
between NGOs and governments are supporting national system strengthening,
ultimately improving the use of DHIS 2 and bringing us closer to
harmonization of data.

Android mobile applications will be examined and we will hear from the
University of Oslo about efforts to overhaul and re-develop the
applications. Biometrics are making concrete gains in development work and
we’ll hear how it can be incorporated into DHIS 2.

Other topics to be explored include:

- What work is being done around DHIS 2 for the Sustainable Development
Goals and how that work can be moved forward.

- How data is used in concrete ways to drive decision-making,
course-correction and improve impact of your programs.

- How integration with other systems like LMIS and EMRs improve national
systems.

[Dhis2-users] DHIS 2, PostgreSQL only

2017-11-09 Thread Lars Helge Øverland
Hi all,

after gathering feedback from the community we have decided to support
PostgreSQL only as database platform for DHIS 2 starting from version 2.29
(i.e. the next release).

This will allow us to utilize some of the sophisticated features specific
to PostgreSQL in order to make a better system. As example, this will help
us to improve the analytics and data import/export functionality.

The minimum version required will be PostgreSQL version 9.0. We do however
recommend migrating to PostgreSQL 10 as it provides performance
improvements and new features which may be utilized in near-future DHIS 2
releases.

best regards,

Lars

Hi,
I have read it from Documentation.

It might be more efficient to import coordinates later as a batch job for
all organization units using the *Import-Export* app. You also use the
*Import-Export* app to create polygons. A polygon is an organization unit
that represent an administrative boundary.

can you please guide me how to create it ?

Hi Lars

Fully agreed. To concentrate one one DB platforms will not only saves time
and effort, also being efficiency to the system and can make more use of
advance functionality of the PostgreSQL & PostGIS.

You will have our full support.

Agree. As a prelude we can put the export import through its paces. Would
be great to have a volunteer mysql Guinea pig user that we could document a
migration.

2017-09-08 Thread riddy ndoma
Hi Lars,
I think like the DHIS2 is a system that needs to be deployed on a large
scale, the choice to keep postgresql is ideal. In its recent version
Postgresql becomes more flexible when there is a lot of data. It becomes
very close to Oracle. the possibility of using the Json and its highly
developed GIS module is a major asset. I'm ok to keep Postgresql as DHIS2
DBMS.

Cheers,

Re: [Dhis2-users] DHIS 2 to support PostgreSQL only?

2017-09-08 Thread Antonia - Pro
Hi Lars and community,
Even though we use MySQL and other DBMS for other projects, I think it's
best for DHIS2 to use and explicitly specify in the documentation that the
only supported DBMS is PostgreSQL.
At the beginning of our project we lost a lot of time testing DHIS 2 with
MySQL, only to discover that some of the problems we had were related to
the use of MySQL, which then resolved, starting to use PostgreSQL.
In my opinion, it is better to support a single DBMS that is well tested
and has all the necessary features (GIS etc.).

Antonia

2017-09-08 Thread Martin Van Aken
Hi Lars,
Make a lot of sense, and would free time in your team to provide more value
(seems you are not lacking ideas). I would say go for it, with maybe
dedicated documentation about how to move (even if it's basically using the
import/export feature "as is", may be worth a couple of hours to write a
step by step guide).

[Dhis2-users] DHIS 2 to support PostgreSQL only?

2017-09-08 Thread Lars Helge Øverland
Hi all,

I want to bring up the idea of solely support PostgreSQL for DHIS 2 for
production use to get feedback from the community.

The DHIS 2 team is seeing clear benefits of moving to PostgreSQL-only. The
main ones are:

1. Supporting and testing for more than one database platform is
time-consuming. The majority of DHIS 2 implementations is using PostgreSQL
already.

2. PostgreSQL supports advanced geospatial features through PostGIS. We are
already depending on these for the GIS module to work optimally (i.e. for
event clustering in GIS). There are no direct equivalent in e.g. MySQL. We
are also considering using PostGIS data types in main data model.

3. PostgreSQL will provide some impressive features which will become very
useful for us in version 10
 and 11. E.g. native
partitioning, parallel queries, logical replication, foreign tables and
improved query performance will be useful and allow us to develop the next
DHIS 2 analytics solution.

We are aware this will be inconvenient for users of other databases such as
MySQL, but there is the option of migrating your database through the DHIS
2 metadata and data value import-export feature.

On a technical note, we will keep the Hibernate development framework and
keep supporting the H2 database for unit testing purposes.

Please let us know your thoughts on this.

regards,

Lars

dhis.conf). Then restart DHIS2 (Tomcat or DHIS Live)

Hi,

Your username is missing user role (authorities) to access. Make sure that
you assign enough user role to new user.

Also, make sure you have the facilities as organization units UNDER Peshawar
district.
Looking at your screenshot I do not see any facilities in the hierarchy.

Just assign the user to the district and they will have access to all the
facilities under neath it.

If the dataset they need to enter data into has been assigned to them, and the
user has the data set assigned to their role, it should work just fine.

Re: [Dhis2-users] DHIS 2

2017-08-02 Thread Jason Pickering
Hi Omer,

I do not think this is going to work at all. What are the data elements in
the second row? Are these dynamically generated as well?

As noted in a previous mail from one of your queires, this really looks
more like event data than aggregate data. For aggregate data you can only
have a single value for a given organisationunit/period/data
element/category combination at a time. So whatever is in that next row
would need to use another dimension, like the category combination. So,
you would need something like "ACT AS + SP" as your data element, and it
would need to be disaggregated by "Page 1" and "Page 2". If this is dynamic
however, you would need to already have these category option combos
generated as metadata and then you could add them to your data entry form I
guess.

But, it simply does not look like aggregate data to me, since you could
have any number of pages I guess?

Regards,
Jason

Not sure if this is still the case, but with older versions of DHIS2,
selecting more than one orgunit would cause a lot of issues. I realise it
is not easy to unselect when you cannot even see the tree, you could
rectify this directly in the db. But before that, see if you have any
errors in your browser console.

Hello Omer,

You can use the Tabular Tracker Capture module to achieve this, provided
that you are collecting event rather than aggregate data (which seems to be
the case).

The module was designed by PSI in order to achieve exactly this type of
row-based data entry, as it allows you to replicate a line register format
in DHIS2 for the purpose of data entry. The "Add Event" button in the
screenshot below is the equivalent of your + button.

[Dhis2-users] DHIS 2 tracker 2.25 only storing attributes

2017-04-10 Thread Bridget Magoba
Dear all,

Am running DHIS2 Tracker 2.25 but when I enter test data in both attributes
and data elements, only data for attributes is stored.

What could be the problem?

Am also using DHIS2 mobile application but data synchronized to the server
cannot be reflected on the web/event reports. What could be the problem?

Thanks

Hi Busoye,

I confirmed the issue had to do with some missing components/dependencies
from some metadata that we're left our during export.I did a fresh
export/import and all is working perfect now.

Many thanks for your assistance.

Fred

Thanks again for your help,

Now that you mentioned consistency of parameters,I've re-examined the setup
and suspect I may have erroneously excluded a few category and data element
components when importing meta-data.

Allow me to revert as soon as I review the imports for further assistance.

2017-01-10 Thread Busoye Anifalaje
Hi Fred,
I actually thought about it after sending the initial email. If the same user
can see the data in data set reports, there really shouldn’t be a reason not to
see the data in pivot tables unless there are parameters you have added in
pivot tables which weren’t in the data set report.

Can you shed some light on what kind of table you are trying to create?
Indicators, data elements, category dimension, org unit group dimension etc

Cheers

Re: [Dhis2-users] DHIS 2 (Version 2.23): Data doesn't display in DHIS Pivot table even after running analytics

2017-01-10 Thread Busoye Anifalaje
Hi Fred,

It is possible that the user has certain dimension restrictions for analytics.

Go to Apps -> Users. Select the user that is having problems visualising data
in analytics. Edit the User. Scroll down and select “Show more options”.

You should see a section title “Available dimension restrictions for data
analytics” (see attached). Check that there are no dimensions selected by
mistake. If there are selected dimensions, try deselecting these from the user
account and save. Run analytics to check if this resolves the problem.

If it doesn’t then it is possible that you may have other sharing protocols for
the data you want to view.

Hope this helps.

[Dhis2-users] DHIS 2 (Version 2.23): Data doesn't display in DHIS Pivot table even after running analytics

2017-01-10 Thread Fredrick Onyango
Hi All,

I'm not able to view data on the Pivot table.
The data entered is however visible on the data entry screens and on the
data set report but not on the DHIS 2 Pivot Table.

I've cleared the cache on Mozilla/Chrome and run analytics.Data mart jobs
are scheduled to run every night at midnight.

Data is visible on PostgreSQL data value table.

Also noticed a message "(user) constrained by dimension" on the tomcat logs
when attempting to access data on the pivot.

Please assist,

Fred

[Dhis2-users] DHIS 2 moving to JIRA for issue tracking

2016-11-22 Thread Lars Helge Øverland
Hi all,

today we are shifting over to JIRA for issue tracking. This means that from
now on you should report bugs and propose feature at our JIRA site. Sign up
for a user account to get started:

https://jira.dhis2.org

We are consolidating all issue tracking to a single location and existing
systems including Launchpad and GitHub will no longer be in use for issues.
All features have been migrated from Launchpad. There are still a backlog
of bugs which we are working on fixing/migrating over the coming weeks.

*1. *To* report an issue* click *Create* in the top menu. Select *New
feature*, *Improvement* and *Bug* depending on whether you would like to
propose a new feature, an improvement to an existing feature or a bug,
respectively.

As always, when reporting bugs please make sure to include as much context
as possible, including at least server logs, Javascript console logs, DHIS
2 version at Web browser.

*2. *To* search for issues* in JIRA, sign up for an account and click
*Issues* > *Search for issues*. In the search screen you can specify
various criteria:

- *Project*: The main software project is DHIS 2*.*

- *Type*: Filter by new features, improvements and bugs.

- *Status*: Filter by ToDo (not started) and Done.

- *Version*: Click More and then *Fix version* to filter by release version.

- *Internal*: Click More and then *Internal feature* to filter out
low-level, system internal features.

*3.* Your search can be saved as a *filter*, which allows you to easily
restore a search. Click save as next to the Search label and give it a name.

We have created filters which could be useful for you for features slated
for 2.26, 2.27 and 2.28 as well as for all open bugs. To add those filters
to your profile, click Issues > Manage filters and click the star icon next
to each filter.

We hope this will make it easier for you to report and look for issues.
Feedback is appreciated.

best regards,

Lars

[Dhis2-users] DHIS 2 Tracker for NCD registries - any experiences?

2016-09-27 Thread goncalo . castro
Dear colleagues

I was wondering if anyone on this list has experience with using DHIS 2
Tracker for the purpose of implementing an NCD registry (e.g. Cancer
Registry).

I would be happy to learn more about it.

Thank you & best regards

[Dhis2-users] DHIS 2 for iNGOs Symposium Registration Information

2016-01-13 Thread Nicola Hobby
Dear DHIS 2 Community,

Registration for the February 22nd and 23rd *DHIS 2 for iNGOs Symposium* is
picking up quickly. Please note *registration is closing February 14th*.
Don't wait to register!

This year's theme is - "What did it take?". We'll be looking at several
use cases from iNGOs, learning how they did it and what human and financial
resources it took. We'll have tons of live demos and see some of the best
custom applications created.

Plus you will have ample networking opportunities to meet fellow iNGO DHIS
2 users, technical experts and vendors.

Presenters include:

   - Akros
   - BAO Systems
   - BlueSquare
   - IPPF
   - Knowming
   - Jhpiego
   - JHU NEP

   - Médecins Sans Frontières
   - Metrics for Management
   - PEPFAR

   - University of Oslo

If you are still undecided about attending, consider this - last year the

over 50 people!

*Secure your spot today by registering here
.*

Reach out to us with questions at dhis2symposium2...@dhis2academy.org

See you in Washington, D.C.!

*P.S. - Apologies if you receive this communication multiple time. *

[Dhis2-users] DHIS 2 Community Manager position open

2015-02-05 Thread Andrea Sprockett
Dear Colleagues,

Metrics for Management is recruiting a DHIS 2 Community Manager to support
DHIS 2 implementation and use among the NGO community. We believe that
standardized data will lead to standardized metrics that can be used to
improve health outcomes. We hope that you will help us to circulate this
exciting opportunity.

We ask that interested candidates send their cover letter, resume, and list
of three references to me at and...@m4mgmt.org. While the position will be
remote, there is a preference for an individual who is based on the US East
Coast.

Kind regards,

[Dhis2-users] DHIS-2 2.15 bug on reporting rate dataset selector in pivot table and visualiser

2014-08-07 Thread Wilson, Randy
Not sure if anyone else has seen this issue, but the list of datasets
displayed when selecting reporting rates is not complete. I've cleared
cache and checked the completeness table for the period in question and all
of the datasets are in the analytics table. I wonder if the SQL statement
used to fill the combo box has a limit statement.

Hi Randy,

thanks for reporting this. Seems it was never backported to 2.15.

I have added infinite scrolling and filtering for data sets in PT and DV

[Dhis2-users] DHIS 2 Cold Chain Equipment Inventory System is Released

2014-07-04 Thread Bharath
Dear All,

We are pleased to announce the availability of the Cold Chain Equipment
Inventory (CCEI) module in DHIS2 and welcome interested individuals to visit
https://www.dhis2.org/downloads and evaluate this new asset-tracking
application.

*Background *

The CCEI module in DHIS2 is designed to support immunization programs to
track core health facilities and cold chain equipments data to enable
strategic (planning) and tactical (management) decision-making on the basis
of key functional requirements identified by PATH while working for over
five years with national immunization programs and their partners to use
cold chain equipment inventory data and develop evidence-based multiyear
equipment plans.

The module adheres to the draft CCEI Data Standard vetted globally in 2013
with cold chain experts through the UNICEF Cold Chain and Logistics
Taskforce. Development of this module was led by the Cold Chain Equipment
Inventories project at PATH in collaboration with University of Washington
and with the generous support of the American people through the United
States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the terms of the
HealthTech Cooperative Agreement # AID-OAA-A-11-00051.

CCEI module can be configured for other classes of fixed assets and is a
flexible tool that can make collection, update and use of data easy which
makes it ideal for monitoring, reporting, compiling and presenting
information on cold chain functioning and vaccine stocks at service
delivery points.

*Key Features:*

*EquipmentTypes*: User can define different asset types and the information
that want to be collected such as Refrigerators, ColdBox, Mobiles etc

*Model*: User can also define common information of specific model for
equipment, so that same information can be applicable for same type of
equipments

*Equipments*: Equipments for different equipment types can be registered
for particular facility/ Clinic

*Repair/Maintenance*: For each equipment user can keep track of equipment
status information

*AggregationBuilder*: Equipment data can be converted into aggregated
numbers using aggregation builder. Once the data is converted into
aggregated numbers then we can use all DHIS analysis tools - Visualiser,
GIS, Pivot Tables etc

*Build Model:*

CCEI is created as a separate project which is dependent on dhis core
stable (2.14) and can be built separately. CCEI project is located at
https://launchpad.net/dhis2-ccei.

*Resources:*

You may download latest CCEI war file from downloads
https://www.dhis2.org/downloads, also for quick start you may download
demo postgres backup file. You can find documentation for CCEI here
https://www.dhis2.org/documentation.

You may join CCEI Launchpad group https://launchpad.net/~dhis2-ccei-devs and
subscribe to dhis2-ccei-d...@lists.launchpad.net mailing list to discuss in
the forum.

We appreciate feedback and active participation from all of our DHIS users.

Re: [Dhis2-users] DHIS 2 - week

2014-03-24 Thread Jason Pickering
Hi Shantala,

As Knut's email alludes to , along the article which you shared hints at,
there may be different definitions of what an Epi Week actually is.

It is therefore that DHIS2 has adopted the ISO standard definition, which
can be determined with precision, due to the rigor of its definition.

In your case, is you requirement that your week begins on Sunday instead of
Monday, with the first week being determined by the The first epi week of
the year ends, by definition, on the first Saturday of January, as long as
it falls at least four days into the month?

A question to the developers...would it be possible to support a user
defined period type, which would require that users create their own
start/enddates? I realize that this would create problems for the offline
features of DHIS2, but this requirement, along with similar ones in
countries which do not use the Gregorian calendar, point to the need for
something more flexible than what we currently have.

Jason

Sure. The requirement is to have data collection done weekly with the week
being an Epi week http://www.cmmcp.org/epiweek.htm (epidemiology week),
having week start date of Sunday and end date of Saturday.
