It's developing rather nicely and last weekend I was able to tie together a
lot of loose ends. The project is in a presentable state for the first time

Hooray! It's 0.99.9 at last!
What's the rationale behind a release version number that asymptotically
approaches the 1.0 value?
After V.0.99 there is V. 0.100, then V.0.101, etc. Version numbers have dots,
but those dots are not like the real number dots :-)
