Hi Mike, in any case I'd like to say thank you very much for your
work and trying to help me, I really appreciated all your effort
and time.

Yes. I can make that available to you. Email me
(aldac...@gmail.com) and I'll set you up.

I'll do that this weekend.

The slides for John Colvin's video are 16:9, so I'm not doing
the picture-in-picture thing for them. Most of them are pretty
big in the raw video, but I'm showing a full screen view of
each slide anyway for varying periods of time based on what
he's saying. I hope this one turns out better for you.

Since I'm foreigner I may sound a bit rough in my comments, but I
really appreciated your help.

Thanks again,

Matheus.

Picture-in-picture has been requested many times in the past,
with different examples given. This format you mention has come
up several times. Next year, I'll ask ahead of time if we can
arrange something like that.

I don't like either, and in DConf it wasn't even needed to to
that since the slides was already fully visible through the
video, my problem was the size when in split screen mode with 2
small texts while watching on my phone (Which is watch I use
mostly), and with vision impairment it's tough.

Okay. I thought that by cutting to the split view in my edits, I
was making the slide more legible. I actually had you in mind
when I did it. It looks bigger and clearer to me than what is
head on in the raw video footage, and definitely bigger than what
they did in the livestream. Sorry it's less legible for you.

By the way, is there any recorded version with that same camera
from far behind without any edition (ie: split screen)?

Yes. I can make that available to you. Email me

I don't disagree with the slides on the screen, my problem was
when showing this way: https://imgur.com/1LeGPRd , for example I
was reading the slide normally live until the screen would split
and now 2 tiny texts (Remembering: For me watching on the phone
with vision impairment it was tough), and still is since I do it
mostly on phone while I'm doing interval at work.

I think one or another should be used, but the original video was
enough/readable as is (At least for me) without that split.

Agreed! None of this takes away from the job that Mike is doing with the
raw footage he already has.

I'm just mentioning this for future conferences.

I agree that the Facebook conference was very well done, they had
cameras and camera operators everywhere.

But in general, I think a video stream of the screenshare, a stream of
the person talking (and only that), a stream of the whole stage, and if
possible, video streams of each questioner would be a great raw source
to start with.

The edited version is still too small? It's only slightly scaled
down from full size, and larger than it was in the livestream. I
don't have access to the video stream of the slides, so I had to
export Walter's PDF to JPEG. They all came out square, and I
scaled down only 15% in the video.

As for the sound, I have no complaints.

Yes, I did. Thanks! I did the same thing for the DConf Online
videos last year. Makes it easier to follow.

Looks good to me! If I were to suggest something, put the dconf
logo in the gray gutter, and maybe the talk title when doing
the split screen. But understandable if you didn't want to go
back and do that.

I tried that using the same background we used in the livestream,
with the logo in a different position, and with it somewhat
blended into the background. I just find it too distracting. My
eyes keep drifting to the logo.

Ugh. It sounds fine to me. It sounds louder to me locally than on
YouTube, but it doesn't sound bad to me there either. I already
boosted the volume just below the clipping range. I'll see what I
can do with the additional settings in the audio editor.

Walter's Edited DConf Talk Video -- Feedback Request

2022-09-07 Thread Mike Parker via Digitalmars-d-announce
I've settled on a format for the edited talks that I think works.
To be clear, I'm not chopping these up as I do the DConf Online
talks to remove the pauses, uhs, ahs, etc. I'm letting the whole
thing go from beginning to end just as if it were live. What's
different from the livestream version is the layout.

My goal is to ensure the slides are visible, while not focusing
on them entirely, and cutting to the slide view at what seems
like appropriate times (as opposed to the random cuts in the
livestream).

I've uploaded the edited version of Walter's talk and left it
unlisted. Before I make it public, I'd like to ensure there are
no major issues with it. And let me state beforehand: by "major",
I mean *major*.

I really, really don't want to go back into the editor with this
unless I absolutely have to. As long as the audio can be heard,
and the slides are legible when they need to be, then I'll be
happy. I'm not going to do any minor touch ups or changes. I only
want to know if it serves its purpose.

If you haven't seen Walter's talk yet (or would like to watch it
again), please give it a look and let me know if you uncover any
major problems:
