Issue ID: 19230 Summary: Please make the forums worse Product: D Version: D2 Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: major Priority: P1 Component: dlang.org Assignee: nob...@puremagic.com Reporter: alil...@gmail.com Mathematically-speaking, the more users D get, the less qualified they will be. But it appears a good fraction of them feel qualified enough to post on the DFeed forums strong opinions like if they were language design experts. This problem is a blocker for scale since there is only so many complaints you can answer back. My idea is to get the forums less accessible, less responsive, or its UI more disagreeable so that: - people that are not vested in D have simply less incentive to post (it's less pleasant), - people see the forum less, so people won't feel a pressing need to appear authoritative or troll, - lessen the amount of conversation, most of which is unproductive A fast forum encourage fast answers. Productive conversation instead happen on Slack, Discord, and email, in shrot: everywhere else. Maybe it means there isn't a need for a medium that, by virtue of being good, _encourages_ improductive conversation (conversations that I can't imagine aren't draining for core developers). --
