Hi Rick, I wanted to make this a separate message for some reading regarding ALE and Katrina, I do not know all the details of ALE use by all the agencies involved, many just take it for granted actually, below is an item to read related to the subject of ALE and Katrina that I have made note of in the past, I am sure if some did some research much more would be found. The purchasing of ALE equipments after Katrina has gone way up by the way.

As the Military has a limited number of available Tactical Satellite (TACSAT) channels within a given theatre, HF ALE has proven to be a reliable over-the-horizon communications replacement for TACSAT anywhere at any time 24/7.
