I am in the UK too.
Perhaps I should have mentioned, I am using an iMac System 10.6.6
Shift 3 = £
Shift 4 = $
Alt2 = €
The € is universal now and you should not need to use things like macro's

I have an Intel Mac System 10.6.6 and I can do multiple pasting using CMD V
Once I have copied using CMD C, I can paste ad infinitum, or I can past to
a whole block.
Undo and Redo still operate.
