[tdf-discuss] Suggestion: Separating Writer, Calc, Base, Draw etc
Hi, Please could we make LibreOffice load 'Writer', 'Math', 'Impress','Calc', 'Base', 'Draw' etc separately. In other words, can these separate entities be kept somewhat isolated so that the load is not too much and it will load faster when the program is started. Please let me know if I am not clear. That way, a user could pick from a list that is more personal to them. How about a menu theme for Mad Author or Crazy Academic? LOL I agree with this idea!!! :-) Thanks. I was actually thinking, after the marketing meeting this afternoon, that if we could also implement the same feature as the Firefox personas, then it would really make it cool for everyone all round. Hi All, Completely agree with Paul Norman. Being an Indian myself, I completely agree with his insight. I also completely agree with his suggestion: Why not languagae Group Names?] Romance Languages: LibreOfficeInternational English: FreeOffice Sorry Can't give you any input on 'Mandarin: Office-免费' Hope our Chinese friends can help. [tdf-discuss] [libreoffice-marketing] Can Openoffice.org rival Microsoft with Libre Office?
Hi Guys, You may find this article interesting: Can Openoffice.org rival Microsoft with Libre Office? http://www.computerweekly.com/Articles/2010/10/12/243295/Can-Openoffice.org-rival-Microsoft-with-Libre-Office.htm Regards, Paul Five ways Libre Office can improve to challenge Microsoft Rebuild community momentum and supplier ecosystem - the current steering committee of developers and national language project managers in charge of the foundation are unlikely to deliver the boldness of vision and swiftness of execution required by the project at this juncture. Suppliers need to co-operate to help the team and push the agenda forwards. Improve product for management for enterprise adoption - there is next to nothing for the enterprise administrator. Openoffice.org suffers from a lack of integration with document content as well as collaboration systems despite a wealth of open source offerings in these areas. Rethink the product - rethink the product entirely and start from scratch to create an internet-centric suite of modular, easily embedded components. Target developers - it also needs to promote embedding and use by developers and companies. For example, while there are many open source PHP scripts that enable developers to create Microsoft Office documents, not so many of them are available to create Openoffice ones. Focus on innovation - Firefox was not adopted because it was free but because it introduced new features such as multiple tabs. Re: [tdf-discuss] I like the name LibreOffice
Hi Guys, If people are having trouble with pronouncing Libre then I propose we fondly call LibreOffice LO. What do you Guys think of LO? Best regards, Paul PS Read below to see what I mean: http://www.computerworld.com/comments/node/9188338#comment-665135 In my country (NL) the name Submitted by Karen on September 29, 2010 - 03:28. In my country (NL) the name of success is English. Thus all great products get English names. So why name it Libre? Are they insensitive for marketing or is ideological? I say: come on guys, come up with a decent name! Submitted by Anonymous on October 2, 2010 - 16:01. Time to broaden your horizons Karen Ask the Canadians Americans, they respect the fact that it is nice to know more than one language. The way its going Spanish may soon be the first language in USA. Etymology. From Spanish and French libre (“free, having liberty, at liberty”) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiktionary:libre How about another example: Ubuntu...
