お騒がせしていてすみませんです。 みなさんから、いろいろな意見をいただいてきて、まずは、私が 中田さんに謝ったほうがいいことがあることに気が付いてきました。
それは、昨年、中田さんがja-NLのリードになった頃、私が 中田さん宛てに、以下のような私信メールをしたことです。 「あなたはリードとしてふさわしくない。 何か問題を起こせば、解任されるでしょう。」 もし立場が逆だったら、なんじゃこれゃ。ですよね。 Sorry for disturbing. Listening to various opinions from everybody I have started to notice that there is a thing for which I might need to apologize to Nakata-san. It is the following e-mail that I sent to Nakata-san when he was assigned to a lead of ja-NL. You are not appropriate for a lead. You will be recalled if you make any problems. If I were in the same shoes, I would be surprised. ===== どうやら、それは私が中田さんに抱く先入観から来ているようです。 That seems to come from my stereotype towards Nakata-san. 中田さんには、ベルリンで開かれた OOoCon2004 のときにお会いしました。 私は数週間前からベルリンの安宿に滞在していて、のどかに過ごしていました。 I met Nakata-san when OOoCon2004 was held in Berlin. I had been spending my time at backpacker's hotel since a few weeks prior to the conference. 会期にあわせて日本から数名いらっしゃいました。ある夜のこと、その宿の ロビーのたぶん別のテーブルで、聞くわけでもなく聞こえてきた会話で、私は 中田さんに対して「この人とは共にいられないな」と判断しました。 A few people came from Japan to meet the schedule of the conference. One night, I made a judgment that I could not work with Nakata-san by hearing conversation at another table in the lobby of the hotel. というのは、中田さんがご自身の研究室の後輩達について、あいつらはダメだ。 というそのダメさ加減について、熱くなって語っていたからです。 もしかしたら私の聞き間違えとか誤解かもしれませんですが。 That is, Nakata-san talked about his juniors in his study room of his university saying they were awful and stating how they were terrible. Delegate!" Reading the book I try to behave based on the lessons. I thought Nakata-san was type B. And Nakata-san still behaves in the similar way as type B within ja-NL. タイプＡ 部下にどんどんと仕事を任す。 最終判断も部下に任せるようにする。 自分の部には優秀な部下が沢山いる。といつも言っている。 Type A Delegates tasks to subordinates. Tries to delegates final judgment to subordinates. "My department has many talented persons" says all the time. タイプＢ 仕事を他人に任せず、自分でこなそうとする すべての最終判断は自分がするようにする。 自分の部にはダメなやつばかりだ。といつも言っている。 Type B Does not delegate tasks and does them by himself. Makes all judgments by himself. "My department has full of awful persons" says all the time. どちらも、アウトプットは出してきます。かれらはどちらも優秀な人達なので。 タイプＡの部下は、次々と昇進していきます。タイプＢの部下はずっと同じままです。 タイプＡの部長も昇進します。タイプＢの部長はその席のままです。 Both makes output since they both are excellent in their job. Subordinates in the department of Type A are promoted one after another. Subordinates in the department of Type B still stay in the same department. The manager A is also promoted while the manager B stays in his current position. また、もう１つ、米国で暮らしていて学んだことがあります。 お母さんが子供に、「I-My-Me な子は嫌いよ」と教えていたことです。 「私が、私の、私に」という人は、大きくなって、いい人になれないよ。 ということのようです。私は中田さんのようなI-My-Meな人は好きになれません。 And there is another thing that I have learned during living in the US. A mother thought her child saying she did not like such a I-My-Me child. That seems that "I, My, Me" person could not be a good person as he grows. I cannot become to like such an I-My-Me person like Nakata-san. と、最後に、中田さんのそのなんというか、その失礼な態度にあきれています。 「かもめ調査隊2006」に関して、当時私が勤めていた会社の社長宛てに、命令 口調でメールしてきたわけです。「○○するように。」というような文面だった と思います。年齢でも倍近い目上に対して、そりゃぁないでしょう。と、私は あきれました。 And finally, I am amazed at Nakata-san's impolite attitude. I remember that Nakata-san sent an e-mail to a president of the company that I worked for, writing commands like you should do that. He is the person whose age is about double of Nakata-san. Unbelievable. I was amazed. というような出来事がありましたところに、前のリーダーが昨年の秋のある日、 私から中田さんへリーダーを交代します。と、たぶん何の前触れもなく [メールアドレス保護] に投稿されたわけです。 With those things, all of a sudden former lead submitted an e-mail in [メールアドレス保護] saying Nakata-san would take over the lead. それで、私は、中田さんに対して、前述のようなメールを送ったわけです。 ちょうどその頃、「かもめ調査隊2006」のことで、この [メールアドレス保護] にいる別の 人や中田さんに巻き込まれて、Louis さんや Charles さんも含めた人々と 話し合う羽目になって私はイラついていた時期だったことも理由の一つかもしれません。 Then, I sent an e-mail mentioned above to Nakata-san.
