Hi all,
I have created a Birds of a feather session for GeoFunctions.
GeoFunctions is currently a (small) library of XSLT 2 functions
for GEO processing of GML,KML,GeoRSS etc data.
It includes functions to calculate area, segment length, perimeter,
polygon centroids, plus a few others.

I am going to kick off a general discussion with a story, one that I
would like to see prevented ...
You arrive at FOSS4G and are really looking forward to showing off your

GeoNetwork, 3D, or even DB2 and Oracle).

Is this restricted to conference attendees?
Nope.
Also, where is the data? Is there one copy of somewhere to download?
See the wiki page.

PS. Join the osgeo data committee if you want to collaborate on this
kind of thing outside of the bounds of the conference.

Now, that would be plain sad and wrong. Again, for now, I am
ambivalent leaning to disagreeing with the above, but OSGeo is still
young. When
Jody,
Ok, I must be dense, I don't see a link to any data anywhere on this
page: http://wiki.osgeo.org/index.php/FOSS4G2007_IntegrationShowcase
A lot of reference and catalog description links though.
Is this it? :http://wiki.osgeo.org/index.php/Canadian_Geodata, not
exactly obvious from
Dave,
It wasn't immediately obvious that that was where the data was.

Hi All,
I've got a question for the OSGeo board, whoever might like to answer
this. I've organized the New Mexico, USA chapter of OSGeo, and we have our
own server which we have yet to put up any code or projects on yet
(www.nmosgeo.org), because that was meant for things that we would
Hi Bob,
I think what Jody was trying to point you at was this:
http://wiki.osgeo.org/index.php/FOSS4G2007_IntegrationShowcase#PostGIS_Database_:_Refractions_Research
It is what you say, a single spot of storage for the data which has a
subset of those datasets posted on the Canadian Geodata
Jody,
Not a big deal for me, just thinking about others that might try it.
I started through the first entry in Dave Pattons's list and still
haven't figured out where the download spot is, I'm doing this between
other things though, so I'm easily distracted.
I'll do more of a random
Isn't part of the idea that the db can be hit live during the event -

All,
Was only trying to set up a web service that I presumed could be listed
somewhere that would demo our Client with the data that was described, I
can download the data myself too.
Having a DB dump from the PostGIS side, even with some small sub-area
would work too. This is just a

If you want your own copy of some part of the
data listed on the Canadian Geodata wiki page,
just go and download whatever you want.

Ahh... I see... apologies, I got lost in the various topics of this
