Re: [OSGeo-Discuss] Fwd: Survey re: OpenStreetmap

2012-03-14 Thread Noli Sicad
Fran,

Use Openlayers and Leaflet API to OSM Tile Maps, if you are interested
to integrate OSM data in apps assuming that you are looking for a
counter part of Google Map API using Javascript framework for web
mapping application.

Re: creating your own Tile Maps for the server, if you want to compete
with Apple, Google, Cloudmade, etc., you can use Mapbox TileMill.

Foursquare just use the service of Mapbox to create maps and service
for their needs.

[OSGeo-Discuss] Mailing lists archived at nabble.com

2012-03-14 Thread Jorge Gaspar Sanz Salinas
Hi all,

After a while without too much administration on the nabble archives
I've offered myself with Mat Loskot as backup admin to update and
polish the status of nabble archives.

Thanks to Eli and others I've just set up a bunch of mailing lists

- libLAS, PDAL and GeoMOOSE projects
- Dutch and Philippines Local Chapters
- Valencia, Barcelona, Madrid, Cantabria and ES_Norte Spanish
microchapters (generally called "geoinquietos")

So if your OSGeo list has been more or less recently created and it's
not archived at nabble.com, please answer this thread, drop a line to
nabble [at] osgeo [dot] org or (even better) fill a ticket at the Trac
and we will be glad to help.

Another point is about conference mailing lists. Eli asked about the
FOSS4G Central and East Europe list to be archived but I haven't seen
any other event related list archived (except the conf committee). If
you think it's worth we can create a new category for events and add
there the different mailing lists we could arrange around general
FOSS4G, FOSS4G CEE, FOSS4G NA, etc.

Waiting for comments, ideas.

Best regards

2012-03-14 Thread Angelos Tzotsos

Hi Leonardo,

Thank you for your interest in OSGeo Live.

Mapguide has some difficult technical challenges working on the latest
Ubuntu, and this is why it was removed from this version of OSGeoLive.
The installer and the documentation was not removed since Mapguide is a
graduated OSGeo Project.

I hope that this will be fixed soon by the Mapguide community.

Regards,
Angelos

And on the ubuntu 11 there's only a package called

[OSGeo-Discuss] FDOs on new OSGEO 5.5

2012-03-14 Thread Leonardo Coelho
Hello List,

I did a download from the latest Osgeo live cd 5.5, there's a script to
install mapguide...so far so good! But a issue just came after the
installation the fdo.deb files are asking for a package unavailable on
Ubuntu 11

Unpacking fdo-core (from fdo-core_3.5.0-5460_i386.deb)...
...
  fdo-core depends of odbcinst1debian1 (>= 2.2.11-3)

And on the ubuntu 11 there's only a package called
odbcinst1debian2...perhaps create a folder on the repository for ubuntu11
and rebuild with the new deps.

Thanks in advance.
