Cameron,

I just re-read this wiki page.

Well done on collating this information in such a concise and thoughtful manner!

Dan,
You might want to look over the lessons learned from 2012.
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/FOSS4G_2012_Lessons_Learned
I respectfully disagree with Michael. I think that early support of the China
FOSS4G could have steered the event to be a successful, although smaller event.

China would still have failed, but we would have known about it [and,

Re: [OSGeo-Discuss] "FOSS4G" Philippines 2014

2014-09-24 Thread Jeff McKenna

Maning,

Please also consider sending the OSGeo Board a request to become an
Official local chapter (see the guidelines[1]). This might be nice news
for your FOSS4G event! :)

Dear everyone,

We are in the planning stage again for the "FOSS4G" track in the

[0, 1]. Piggybacking on other conferences allow us to reduce the cost
(to nearly 0) of running open source geospatial workshops.

One question, is it in the spirit of OSGEO to "brand" this as FOSS4G
Philippines? Are there official channels to toalk and disuss?

Hi Maning,

Your timing is good, as this morning I added your local chapter to an
osgeo.org page[1].

I'm very happy to hear of your FOSS4G plans. Of course you might have
noticed that OSGeo is going through some growing pains recently, trying
to find ways to manage the growth of FOSS4G. Recently the idea has been
put forward by Venka that the FOSS4G name can be used if one or more
OSGeo Charter Members are one of the event organizers. I support that
"soft condition", and in your case, since you are a Charter Member, you
are more than welcome to use the name for your event :)

I hope this information helps you. And I hope you keep us all informed
on the progress of your FOSS4G-Phillipines 2014 event!! :)
