Ben Caradoc-Davies is a longstanding member of the GeoServer community -
first with his role at the Australian research group "CSIRO" and more
recently as a independent contractor from is native New Zealand.

As a contributor Ben has demonstrated excellent leadership (volunteering
with the GeoServer Project Steering Committee and GeoTools Project
Management Committee) and mentoring of new contributors by answering
questions, offering encouragement, backed by kind words and constructive
reviews.

Ben is exceptionally generous with his time: willing to take on the day to
day challenges of running a project, leading meetings, issuing multiple
releases a year, and stepping in for emergencies. The team has come to
depend on Ben's dedication to quality watching out for the build servers
and monitoring the travis automated builds.

Ben is also takes on some of the harder open source challenges for the
foundation as a whole. In my time as an OSGeo board member Ben has helped
clearly articulated our legal questions, and taken part in meetings with
our legal council.

I also had the privilege of organizing a foss4g-au event with Ben and
follow his open source advocacy work in Australia.

Although it is perhaps not a character reference I personally appreciate
Ben's coding and communication skills. His ability to contribute code in a
consistent, professional manner, and his communication skills make working
on the GeoServer project that much easier.

I would like to nominate Nuno Oliveira for OSGeo charter membership. 
Nuno is a relatively recent addition in the OSGeo Java tribe, and yet
in this time he managed to be active in the GeoTools, GeoServer and 
GeoWebCache projects,
showing at the same time good technical and communication abilities 
while also providing support on the user lists, along with GeoServer
related presentations and workshops in local FOSS4G/INSPIRE conferences. 
He's also a member of OSGeo Portugal and helps

organizing local events.

I would like to nominate Antony Scott as a Charter Member of OSGeo

Antony has been active in the UK OSGeo chapter for a long time and is 
now the secretary of OSGeo:UK


He teaches QGIS both in the UK and overseas via MapAction where he he 
has been a volunteer for over 5 years.


Antony was a member of the FOSS4G 2013 LOC and also a member of the LOC 
for FOSS4G UK 2016.


Antony is a dedicated open source person who has travelled the world 
promoting OSGeo technologies in all sorts of environments, he is always 
willing to offer help to others. He would be an excellent Charter Member
