Re: [OSGeo-Discuss] GeoForAll meeting at FOSS4G 2019

?Thanks Suchith for leading this. Maybe it's good to consider remote attendance
at the meeting since some of us will not be able to do it personally even with
the great effort the LOC is doing.?

Best wishes,

I am very grateful to see the amazing contributions from the student community
globally to OSGeo. This is very inspiring to see their volunteer work .
GeoForAll is committed to provide geoeducation and Digital economy
opportunities to all .

We are planning to have a GeoForAll meeting at FOSS4G 2019 to discuss and plan
ideas for the future. It will be similar to FOSS4G 2018 GeoForAll meeting [1]
and aimed to bring together colleagues from GeoForAll labs globally to discuss
and plan actions for the future . Having FOSS4G 2019 in Romania will be a great
opportunity for us bring together (esp. for all GeoForAll labs in Europe , this
is a great opportunity to meet) to plan ideas for expanding OSGeo in School
education through Teacher training programs.

Andreea Marin (Faculty of Geography,University of Bucharest) [1] has kindly
agreed to be local contact for the GeoForAll meeting at FOSS4G 2019. Andreea
worked to establish the first Romanian Open Source Geospatial Lab at the
University of Bucharest.

May I request that colleagues who are planning to be at FOSS4G 2019 to please
volunteer as co-organiser of this meeting and help Andreea for this. Please
contact Andreea directly if you can help with this. I want to thank FOSS4G 2019
LOC colleagues for their work and efforts. I wish you all success.

Best wishes,

Suchith

Dear FOSS4G enthusiast,

It is with great honor and joy that we announce that the registration
for FOSS4G 2019 Bucharest is open [1]! And more..

We promised to do our best to make this global FOSS4G the most
affordable of all times and we kept our word. Joining the geospatial
international community for one week packed with dynamic, valuable,
timely events in a vibrant European capital city is more at hand than
ever before. The EarlyBird for FOSS4G 2019 Bucharest is at the
historical level of 330 EUR and it offers you everything you could ever
need for such a tech gathering:

- Access to plenary session (28- 30 august)
- Access to conference tracks (28- 30 august)
- Access to 300+ talks
- Access to mobile app
- Ability to contact attendees
- Access to Ice Breaker Party (29 august)
- Access to Gala Dinner (29 august)
- Access to Pub Race Offers (28-30 august)
- Access to Academic papers post event
- Access to presentations post event
- Conference kit
- Email support

The #historicalearlybird registration is coupled with the unbelievable
accessible accommodation and traveling expenses. Bucharest is a
significant European traffic node and one of the low-cost favorite
destination points, more than 70 airports have direct connections [2]
with Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport (also check our CARTO
interactive map with estimated prices [3]). Browsing through the
accommodation page on the FOSS4G 2019 website [4], you’ll find all
types, ranging from a wonderful downtown hostel with a sky bar to city
center 5* hotels, we have special negotiated deals for any taste and
wallet. Please be aware that, due to high demand, the special prices are
available only until the end of January.

Not convinced yet? To show our appreciation for our early participants,
we have prepared 100 special T-shirts for the first 100 registered
participants. Not convinced yet? Be among the first 100, and you will
also receive the Romanian Curios Passport. Curious? Be among the first
100 registered participants.

No FOSS4G would be possible without the valuable input of sponsors. They
are the conference’s backbone contributing to the values, principles and
progress of our community. Support us in our work to organize FOSS4G2019
Bucharest as one of the most memorable FOSS4G events. The call for
sponsors is now open. Please, take a look at our suggestions [5] and
find the one that best suits your needs and preferences.

Sponsoring is not yet possible but you want to actively contribute to
the success of FOSS4G 2019 Bucharest? Become a volunteer! Besides
valuable input in making FOSS4G 2019 happen, you will receive a free
ticket to the conference (including the ice breaker and gala dinner).
Interested [6]?

Sponsorship is not for you, neither volunteering but you still want to
help FOSS4G 2019, then Spread the Word [7]!

Yet of course, traveling to a FOSS4G is meeting the geospatial gurus,
old friends and collaborators, making new friends, finding new
opportunities and presenting your own work. Within the next week,
another important call will open, the Call for Papers and Workshops. The
committees are almost fully formed and ready for action. We are honored
to say that the FOSS4G 2019 program will be shaped by remarkable people
in the geospatial international community. Check out the Committee
webpage [8] to see who will review your FOSS4G 2019 contribution.

In the weeks to come, important steps will follow, as opening the call
for academic papers, announcing keynote speakers, so stay tuned
[9][10][11]! We promise our #historicalearlybird will prove to be even
more convincing, as FOSS4G2019 Bucharest wheels turn.

With hope to see you all here in Bucharest, best wishes for a Happy New
Year!
FOSS4G 2019 Bucharest team
