[OSGeo-Discuss] GDAL GRASS Driver
Hi Mathieu The gdal-grass driver is now available, tested on Fedora 12/13/14/15. Should work fine for EL5 also. Can you please do the testing on EL5 and let me know the result? I have tested the driver with grass 6.3/6.4 and gdal 1.6/1.7, works perfectly fine... You can download the RPM/SRPM from: http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=2632968 After the installation: Please logout and login again or run export GDAL_DRIVER_PATH=/usr/lib64/gdal-grass/plugins to set the plugin path. To verify the installation run gdal_translate --formats | grep -i grass. This should return something similar to GRASS (ro): GRASS Database Rasters (5.7+) Thanks Regards Viji ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[OSGeo-Discuss] gdal-grass soname issue
Hi, I am trying to build gdal-grass package for fedora (as the gdal package need to be complied without grass support for bootstrapping) I could see that the shared libraries does not have a soname (DT_SONAME ELF field). If an executable is linked with a shared object which has a DT_SONAME field, when the executable is run the dynamic linker will attempt to load the shared object specified by the DT_SONAME field rather than the using the file name given to the linker. Is there any suggestions? or patches available already? I could not find one ..:( Thanks Viji ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss

There will be a new package called gdal-grass, gdal need to be compiled without grass support for bootstrapping. (after grass 6.4, this will be pushed to upstream) Thanks a lot for your contribution, Viji! For now I volunteer as tester, and have signed up on https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/GIS Thank you so much for joining the fedora-gis channel. I would appreciate if you can start using these applications and report bugs, if any. Also feel free to mail me if we have missed any major gis application on the above page, will add to the wish list and try to include to the repo. Thanks Viji Let me know how I can help. [OSGeo-Discuss] Fedora Geo/GIS Spin
Hi, I am a Fedora project contributor and have been working on Linux for the last 10+ years, specifically on GIS projects for the last 4+ years. We are adding more GIS application to fedora. If everything goes fine, there will a GIS/Geo spin for Fedora 15. Please have a look at: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Geo_Spin http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/GIS The following new packages have been pushed for Fedora 13/14 and rawhide (F15), currently under testing. pgRouting (Provides routing functionality to PostGIS/PostgreSQL) tilecache (A web map tile caching system) To test: yum --enablerepo=updates-testing install python-tilecache yum --enablerepo=updates-testing install pgRouting If you are interested in becoming a contributor, we are very happy. Please feel free to contact me if you have any queries. I tried to look thru the list of packages (Actual Content) on http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/GIS but each link goes to a Invalid PackageBuild name page. Where can we see what's already available? Thanks, Sorry about this, fixed now. packages mentioned in the Actual Content section are available as a part of stable release, just do a yum install package name packages mentioned in New Packages Pushed are under testing, to use the same run yum --enablerepo=updates-testing install package name. The same will be pushed to stable after a week (if no bugs reported) Thanks Viji -- Micha Silver http://www.surfaces.co.il/ Arava Development Co. +972-52-3665918 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
