Okay, I figured out how to downgrade the firmwear by editing the squeezebox.version file. I'm now running 6.0.2 with version 11. Guess What? Now *ALL* of my music is missing from the Browse Music Folder menu. I see Music Folder (1 of 34), But the next line is blank. Each subfolder says Empty

I got my SB2 hooked up just fine and it works, but after a while it stops. When I go in to look at it it is NOT connected and I have to go through the whole thing of right arrowing and setting up. I've had an SB1 for a long time and it would sometimes happen, but not as much as my brand new SB2.

Just had a major problem with linux and softsqueeze. I stopped the slimserver service and continued to run softsqueeze. The following error appeared in .xsession-erros in my user directory repeatadly filling up my disc (the file was 45gb in size!) I dont think this is desireable behaviour!

This is a Windows issue. Mapped network drives with letters are not available to services, they are part of the user's profile. In order to use the share you *MUST* use UNC notation, if you are using a disparet network (ie not Windows) you are out of luck. Also try having the service run as a

As far as I know the stream URL always delivers mp3, I don't think you can tell it to stream as FLAC (FLAC files will of course be transcoded to mp3 when you play them though). Additionally, when you connect via the stream URL you are treated as a different player. If you connect with winamp,

Thanks kdf, I've given that a try. It sometimes takes 12+ hrs to crash so I'll see if it's OK tomorrow; it's running fine right now. BTW - it seems very processor light compared to where it used to be with 6.02. I can't remember actual figures but I'd have thought between 10-30% of 6.02 load.

I was thinking the same thing. I had not realized that the server needed to be alive for a plug-in to run on the SB2. I was presuming (incorrectly) that the plug-in could be downloaded and run on the SB2. KDFs comment straightened me out. -- MrC

You can also install SlimServer on a Linksys NSLU2 NAS box(check out http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/HowTo/InstallSlimServer ) I did this and it works great. It uses hardly any power and is completely silent. It might be a little slower to load the slimserver web pages etc. than a full blown PC,
