supported (only signal strenght but no noise).

connection speed up methods (Super G, Turbo, etc)? I think encryption
slows down connection speed with poor signal strength, so that may

I've got a SlimServer 6.2.0 installed on Linux, connected to a wired and wireless network.
I've got an original SlimP3 connected to a network drop, and a wired Squeezebox connected to a wireless bridge.
When playing, the Squeezebox plays fine through the wireless connection.

one of the strong points of SB2 was WPA security... I would not remove
it, although chances of being hacked are thin.
As far as your question, my SB2 is streaming radio without hiccups and
the signal is 33-36%.

close to you, using SB without encryption could be an option. But I'm

If we're talking legacy hardware, other things to consider are the
slimline PCs e.g. Compaq ipaq, and slimline evo range.
Problem with some of them will be the lack of large hard drive support
- the ipaq will only support upto 120GB for example

Quite common. All you need is strength anyway - you just want to find
a channel, antenna orientation and AP

Sorry, I'm a little excited. I just got my Squeezebox last night. UPS
usually delivers in the early afternoon; waiting for this thing to be
delivered yesterday was torture.
Anyway, it took approximately a minute to get the Squeezebox set up.

The system has 512K of memory. There's between 50K and 100K free in the
steady-state. It's hard for me to gauge CPU utilization right when this
is happening since the SB3 is in another room.
The files were all imported using iTunes with a .M4A
MPEG-4 AAC can't be played natively, so it's transcoded to AIFF, FLAC or
MP3 depending on your File Types settings.

But based on how my high-end (for their day) Logitech speakers sound, I

I have downloaded LAME using pointer on the WIKI, selected WAV PCM
(which requires LAME)file format and reinstalled Quick Time. I'll try
