Hi can anyone tell me if there is Alarm functionaliy in the Date Time
screen saver that shows the bell symbol on the display if there is an
alarm set in the next n hours (e.g. 12 hours).
I've changed the behaviour in SC7 for exact your reasons: it now shows whether
there's an alarm within the
When i activate shuffle on my squeezebox v.3 the player freezes when the

Are you shuffling a large playlist?
If shuffle is deactivated i have no problems at all!
You said you encountered the issue when _activating_ shuffle, not when it's
turned on. Thus I meant
I have an external NTFS drive which I share between a PC and Mac. It is

Ah, good. Thought it might be the folder thing - even if all your tags
are exactly the same, if the files are in different physical locations
SS doesn't know they're part of the same album, however moving all of
these files into one folder tells SS they are in fact supposed to be
treated as one!

I actually had a funny Squeezefox moment the other day.
Some of the album art I have is very large, especially if it's an old

just throw it in the directory with the music.
Anyway, my whole 1280x800
My understanding is that at least some of limitations you mention
(missing stations) are to do with the way that Radiotime has set itself
up to be implemented on the SB.
You may need to raise these points with Radiotime itelf. There was a
recent thread which may give some background 'here'
My point is that as a means of browsing internet radio by genre
RadioTime on Squeezebox doesn't appear to work. Not that Shoutcast/
Live365 are much better (hopeless navigation, poor quality streams
often preferred, annoying adds for Shoutcast/ Live 365, etc).
This is an area in which
I have put in a good word for radiotime before but I want to repeat it
again in this thread.
I like a local (Los Angeles) public radio station. In my room with my
stereo that station doesn't get good reception over the air no matter
how I place the antenna. But by using radiotime, I am able to
Sounds like you have let the now playing screensaver kick in. Try
changing this in player settings to Now Playing (jump back on wake).
This will take you back to where you were before the screensaver
started.

Sorry - what is it you're asking me to do here?
Where do I go to get an output of the tags?
I'm using FLAC, btw.

What format? What are the tags exactly?
(Ie, if flac, try flac --list filename to see them. Trusting GUI's

Let's not forget that Logitech shelled out $20M for Slimdevices. I
expect their Treasury have set a hurdle-rate of 20% for projects, or
they'd be better keeping the money in the bank. The price of SB varies
considerably by country, suggesting that it's priced at what each
market will bear.

It may be worth you asking some more questions on here (or reading the
many articles already present) about a few of those apples in
particular :)
You may find yourself becoming convinced!
And just to make you feel a little better, on our side of the pond we
have to shell out £200, which is
Hi, I'm Bill with RadioTime. When browsing RadioTime on the Squeezebox
you'll only see stations with working streams that are compatible with
the Squeezebox. Most of the Classical stations you see on

Well, the answer seems to be high-quality components mixed with low
volume production. It *is* expensive compared to wireless music
offerings from other companies, but I get it's not an apples-to-apples
comparison. Understand that things like Burr Brown, FLAC, or VFD vs.
LCD mean nothing to me.

The bulk of the cost is apparently the VFD display.
O what! So then just make one without it! I am blind! ;) Great! I just
want a dac which I can control via a web browser and SB3 is just that
for me. ;)

Personally, being a new convert I think it's excellent VFM.

Just because you cant afford something does not mean it's expensive.
I agree that the SB3 is the best VFM audio streamer on the market.

Suggestion. Are you familiar with softsqueeze, squeezeslave, and

to work with the slimserver and which can be used for streaming from

I've been looking at the One Laptop PC (OLPC, laptop.org) as a possible

any concrete answers to many of my questions, but here goes.
OLPC has some attractive features: Low power usage (15W), runs Fedora

You will find that on returning the
The SlimServer will have to retrieve the files over the network from the
NAS. The SlimServer will then send the files, again over the network, to
the Squeezebox.
So, no, SlimServer running on the OLPC can't cause the NAS to magically
deliver the files directly to the Squeezebox.

I tend to be price sensitive and have never thought of the SB3 as
overpriced. In fact, I bought it because it was the least expensive
device that fulfilled my minimum requirements for a decent quality
wireless streaming device. What I *would* like to see is an

If SlimServer is on the laptop then, yes, the network traffic would go
through the laptop. Wireless may work, but it may not.
IMO, it is not something I would count on. There are plenty of other
devices you could find for a server that would have an ethernet port.

What radio station are you trying to play? What is the URL? What is the

this issue. It sounds to me like this is a global bug that goes across
platforms... Same
