Will the various devices intended to route the analog signal through a
hi-fi have much the same sound quality? Are the DACs the same? Or have
they improved (Touch Duet SB3)?

Duet SB3 are very similar architecture and sound. Touch definitely
has a better DAC.

controller can be used for basic functions like volume control,

I updated this morning. It now works

The Duet shipped off today. That leaves 5 radios. I'd be interested in
selling one or two of them if anyone is interested. I have 1 white, 1
red and 3 black.

Duet and SB3, with a slight edge to the latter.
