IMHO the best way to keep wiki.slimdevices.com alive is to actively use
and update it. The more activity there is, the smaller the risk that it
gets axed.

Can't match $30, but another alternative is the CuBox:

One other interesting feature of this device is that it has optical
SPDIF out, so may be a good match for non-USB DACs.

If you want smart playlists you also need to add handling of statistic

What do you mean with library management ?
In my view, LMS has very little library management while apps like
iTunes and WMP have a lot more. Library management for me means that I
can restructure my library and add/remove/change artist/albums/track
data from a user

I agree with your points. I mostly just mean that there is a functioning

Hello and Happy New Year to all.
I was looking for a solution to switch automatically to my local LMS (or
one of my local LMSs) without having actions on my squeezebox radio
interface (and to increase the WAF of the beast).
Did not find anything about this kind of tools and I took advantage of

The Server Power Control plugin does this. Have a look at the 3rd
party software forum.

No, there's a hell of a lot more than that needed to make this an actual
replacement for the Squeezebox.

Unfortunately that method doesn't work with my dac - setting

Hello,
thanks for you answer.
If I understand the purpose 'Server Power Control' is a server side
pluging used to manage server (hibernation, shutdown, autowakeup).
The purpose of the applet is to act on client side by looking for a
local server and switch on it to always use local servers when
The plugin does that, too.
It can automatically send players to MySB when the server is sent to
sleep and pull them back to the server when it's waking up again.

Hello,
yes the first version of the applet is ready to use.
I try to never use mySB.com and I made the choice to always go back to
local LMS when mysb.com is selected. It can be an option for the next
version.
The applet covered my needs today by switching automaticaly to a local
up LMS (never

I currently use a customized version of Softsqueeze; which integrates
perfectly in my SageTV Media Center software. So, I basically have
universal radio, digital cable TV DVR, bluray which are all integrated
into one Server-client system. So, instead of having 4-5 different

With the prevelance of iPods, iPhones, and Andriod devices, I think it's
reasonable to put forth a squeezebox replacement without a display and
rely on another device for the display/control. It seems to be working
well for Sonos.

It would be easy to add both of these to the project but it would add

we want a display or remote?

To reach the masses, you need to put it on the shelves in the local

Running a Pi with truehl's Squeezeplug for LMS and Triode's Squeezelite
